it's not a turbo, I think he routed the pipes like that to get a tuned length.......or because he could

More often than not they are. At least that's how it's been done "en masse" in the past.

They look like Storz or Bartel's pipes.. I think Lawill also made similar.

I know a guy that has an XR1000 with the twin carbs, he put similat pipes on, I think he got the mufflers from Aircone.. The bike was in the Deely Museum for quite a while, every once in a whlie he would pul it outy and take it for a good spin.
