I think any and every fabricator.. or even if your not one.. would find these fab skills amazing.. check out this build, very inspirational!

I'd fall in the not category...

"On the left is a standard Excelsior engine bolt. In the middle is a grade 8 bolt, currently available. I cut the head off, machined a 3/8" NF thread, took some 1144 steel, tapped a 3/8" thread, screwed it on the bolt, TIG-welded the end, milled the hex, and domed the end. It's strong, and less work than starting from scratch."

Holy #$%*.

That was freaking ridiculous.
thats what newbs do when they get tired of asking what kind of oil to run

uhhh....? I don't get it?
so newbs get tired of asking what kind of oil to run and they go build a bike from scratch....? that makes no sense...?

Ditto I was kinda wondering what he meant to.  I don't know many newbs who make a enter bike from scratch and what did the oil have to do with anything.

Worth quoting again!

Its electric!!! check out the story at wired.com.  Looks like the motor is in the rear hub, how cool.  Frees up space for batts and eliminates need for a chain.

I love what you did!  Definitely better than the other three.

There are actually four bikes, but I left the fourth out because it didn't do anything for me.  But since you're mixing and matching, maybe you can cannibalize some parts off it.   :)

I like the fact the mac bikes are so simple, single cylinder basic frame no bodywork really. If they could build them with simple fuel injection I think they would sell pretty well. Although honest I think honda should start making fun beginner intermediate bikes say 500cc weigh around 380 lbs and produce a respectable 80 hp and look like one of those mac bikes. Why not Honda? Really the Dn-01?

The Ninja 500 makes 60hp with 500cc. 80hp is entirely possible but you'd probably lose some driveability because the engine would be peaky.

the ninja 500 is also old and doesn't have fuel injection. It isn't water cooled either right? I just think something light with enough performance to be fun but still not excessive or scary for beginners. Fun being the key word. It doesn't seem like it should be too hard to design and market.

What does age have to do with it? They're still being made (well, there's a 2009 model at least). They're water cooled.
