LOL :D :D :D :D

That's been posted on a couple of sites (including here?)
Lots of criticism, looks 'pretty' but probably unridable.
It's being touted as 'art' which I guess it is.

It just reinforces my thought that some models just make it because they look unique, not necessarily pretty.  And it doesn't help that they're uncomfortably skinny, ie Kate Moss.

OK, not unrideable but not rideable at any decent speed for long or most corners.
It may work for a photo-shoot?
The obvious stuff
Heat shield is in totally wrong place, no fork brace, as mentioned, no front brake, drive chain looks way too tight, gearchange linkage set up wrong (look at the operating arm angles)
I'm sure there are other things I haven't noticed?

I see that now, but really.. there is no shortage of fresh bikes that would need tweaking to be everyday riders.. everybody likes their bikes to look right to the eye..and that does not always mean it will work optimally..

Fork brace needed to be rideable.. man Have I  been screwed up a lot of the time..

I use this as an Inspiration thread... if I see one thing about a posted bike that sorta stirs me... I tuck that idea away in the back of my head to maybe use in the future..
That is what the the thread is about.. fresh ideas or looks to incorporate in our builds...

Know what you mean about seeing different stuff that could be used or modified
I guess I just ride too fast on bumpy roads  :D
You've never had forks tweak so bad they wont go up and down properly or its applied brake for you?
It feels like tyre has gone flat, sort of 'squirmy' and even less 'precise'
In my experience it happens a lot with oversize (heavy) tyres. (I stopped test riding other people bikes  ;D)
I've even fitted fork braces to my MX bikes to prevent excess twist
Quick anecdote, has anyone else had fender dented by exhaust pipes on a stock CB750F2 during heavy breaking?
You could see where the dust seals didn't 'wipe' fork legs because they flexed so much?

I cant remember ever cornering that hard..

My main bikes were slammed, cant lean real hard (dont miss it). I did run a fork brace on my 836 though, if you chrome the trees they get slipprier.

But I have ridden in a strutted frame with 2 inches of foam for a seat and still done 600 miles in a day, first time out in over a year..

Just mentioning cuz what some may call unrideable is another mans idea if a bike to ride.. in some cases..

I deaw ideas from many abstract sources... including rod magazines, classic bicyles.. stuff like that..

I know a guy that used to get rubber burned onto the pipes on his H2750 Kawasaki from the wheel touching, he said it would almost throw him off and really freaked him out...

There is form and then there is functionality. I can appreciate and draw inspiration from both. They are usally not synonymous with eachother but when they both come together it is true art. In my dream build i lean heavily on the form side but must be functional to a degree. I figure if i want a bike that is comfy, rides well, and performs well, id buy a new BMW. But i want a bike that i put together with my 2 hands and is different from any other.

it looks like it's been in a rear end collision.
I personally dont like that whole European streetfighter look, I dont even like the way the Brits make cafe racers. America rules.

Hey dipstick, did it never dawn on you that we might think the same of you.
Every thing that we invent, you mess up, look what you did to the Queens English.
Look at what you did to your own project bike, you created such an ugly monster, you couldn't bare to look at it and shelved the project and blamed it on the the economic state of the US for your lack of funds.
Now having a go at one another online ain't the same as doing it down at the pub where you might get a face full of knuckles, so to give you the chance of appologising in person, I'll be round your way next week to put this to bed. You name the time and place.

Sam.

P.S. make sure it's near a pub then we can have a few beers after sorting one another out. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

P.S. only joking about your bike, not bad for a American cafe. :D :D :D :D :D

I am sure glad I hung on to a girder fork to use in the future.

That XS 650 boardtracker looks like it draws heavily on the early Douglas frames of the teens, and the Brit flat tank look.. nice bike..

what is "Queens English" ?

I love them English and Aussies, y'all thems the only folks that can understand Emerican right off the boat. I'll hire any of them jokers anytime. They say the funniest stuff constantly...and very crafty types too.
