Yes, they went well, my dad used to race them in the late 50's early 60's Jags, not e type}.... ;)  He was actually offered a V12 Etype for free, the owner had a heart attack and died while driving it and left the road and stopped in the middle of a wheat field, they didn't find him for a couple of weeks and couldn't get the smell out of the car, Dad declined......

Not that it bothers me that you don't believe it but it happened.
My Dad used to race cars, {everything from old Jags to open wheelers},   In the early 60's, some time shortly after the guy died in the jag, his son was killed in a racing accident in an open wheeler, his son was my Old mans best friend, they raced together.  Dad gave  our German Shepard {Cindy} to the guys wife for comfort after loosing 2 of her family members in a short period of time. It wasn't long after this that Dad was offered the Jag, it had all the interior removed and had lots of perfume and other things poured into it to try get rid of the smell, nothing worked. I never saw the car {was too young} but have no reason to doubt what my old man had told me, he was an industrial chemist and well respected and wasn't the type to make sh1t up.....

Anyone care to guess what motor that is…?

6 cylinder Jaguar engine.?

That would be my guess RR.  Given the backgound crowd maybe an early 2.5L.

And the winner is...

   Jaguar XK 6

Mick, I've never had occasion to not believe anything you've written. It's just that - I'm not sure about Down Under - in the US the story about the old guy dying and rotting away in a rare vintage car (Bugatti, Ferrari, GT40) is standard urban legend fare. However, if a father recounted a personal story to his son, I'm sure the story was true. I apologize if you felt that I'd impugned your credibility.  :-[  RR

Mint late 60's bikes+movie budget = bikes that look like they were "built" in a weekend. I bet that shop made hella profit-way to upsell with all the "high output charging system" stuff = )

Thanks Lucky.  My camera had died by the time I made it to the K0, so that one came from my phone.

This indeed is inspiring. Can anyone discern the front end on the 500?
Lastly, why do most use 500s for track and competition rather than 550s?

35mm Marzocchi, probably from a Pantah, but I'm not 110% certain of the application. Takes Brembo F05 calipers (95mm centers). If anyone has another opinion, I'd love to hear it. Been trying to ID a set.

I'd really like to see what he used for triples, hub and fork brace...  ???  Anybody got any additional pics of this bike?  RR
