Ok I got to mention, when it was built very few people uttered the word bobber was really only reserved for speaking about the origins of chopper.. But that was in 83 I think the seat was cut back, we made the back fender, I made up the bars.. It was all chopper stuff.
Actually I bolted. A steel plate to the stock triple tree bar mounts, then welded two bent bars betweem the plate and a set of drag bars..
Bike is still rumoured to be around, would love to get it back..

Frank, you might know the answer to this question: Did Amen make CB750 Savior frames with different steering head rakes? The one in your photos uses standard fork tubes and yet most of the Saviors I've seen run extended tubes. Did you derake the steering head?

The reason I ask is that I have a couple Savior frames and they seem (unverified as yet) to call for about a 6-over. I think I'd like to build one up but I absolutely hate extended tubes, even with a 21" front hoop. I think that extended tubes make the front wheel look awkward, and I'd rather not run a springer if I can get an Amen to run level with standard tubes and dual disks.

Thanks in advance. RR

You may have been able to order different rake, but never seen them advertise it, that I remember.
My red bike had I think 8 overs on it, before I decided to lower it.
Keep in mind you need very tucked in drag pipes or a high pipe, and iz relocated the side stand
Rake may be less than 10 extra after lowering it, I suspect more like 6 or 7..
Go for it, you will like it..

Thanks for the reply, Frank, but I could use a little additional info... How did you lower your red Savior? Those look like stock forks.

I've looked closely at 1054's old black Amen and his forks look to be around four to six over. Not too bad at that length. Thanks again. RR

They were in fact genuine Honda 77/78 hardchrome forks in 73 legs.
I cut of the sidestand mount then moved it behind the shifter cover, you can see it in the pic on this page.
We will do the same on the other one, the rigid.
You need tucked in drag pipes, or a high pipe. If forks are a bit o
Longer you can run some 4-1.. Like RC.. Fits.. But others like Hooker, had to splice about 1 1/4 inches inthe 4 headpipes, for collector to clear frame

Okay. Got it, Frank. So you picked up an inch with the later tubes. No problem on the drag pipes; got a set on the shelf. I've also got a set of the the old chrome Amen triple trees laying around, so I may try a set of extended tubes and then slide them down until the chassis sits right. Then at least I'll know for certain what length I need.

Just trying to decide whether to do one of the Saviors or to do a rigid, if I do a chopper at all. At this point, I might be getting a little long in the tooth for either but it'd be kinda fun to have a light "bar hopper" toy for a change of pace... Sure as heck can't make a living on CB750 chopper builds these days!  :-\

Anyway, thanks again. Have a good weekend! Ted

This one will get sidestand on side, and he will build a highpipe..
77/78 tubes are same length as 69_76.

Hmmm... Shortish Ceriani forks and long front frame tubes. And it still works. That's good news. Maybe one of my frames will take standard tubes after all. Gotta check 'em.

Lots of potential in that bike. I assume the "high chair" seat is going away!  :o  RR

I sold a set of old CR31's this week to a guy that races bikes in historic racing here in Australia, he sent me a picture of his latest incarnation its a piece of art and all work is done by Jerry, the head was welded up and completely redesignes and he made the whole front forks except for the triple clamps, he's a very talented man... :o

Wow.  I love bikes where nothing looks unusually modified or out of place, yet everywhere I look something smart has been done to it.

If he has a write-up on the bike, I'd love to see it.

The engine is a CBX400. One upgrade is the ignition has been re-engineered to run behind the cylinders, no small feat.

It is a very cool racebike Mick.

How about the frame and on & on.  8)  I have other pics that Jerry sent but I don't know how to move them.

Jerry checks in here, that's how he found out about your carb parts, maybe you can convince him to give an

update.
