Gives me about 6-8mm clearance between chain and frame. 4-5mm clearance between chain and tire (on a 180 tire) Swingarm is from scratch.

Sorry! Back track! 18mm off set in the rear!! Sorry. Brain fart.
You are almost correct. The swing arm is 1 3/4" longer than stock. Between the front off set + the swinarm lenght + the rear off set = straight chain line. I already had 200k on the bike with this set up. No problems and no odd wear lines on either sprockets.
You cant tell which engine by the serial numbers..?
What is it like to ride...cornering handling vs. straight-line? I would like to do something similar, but I know a lot has to be done to make it 'right'. Yours looks the part though. Also, why size front tire/wheel are you running? Thanks.
Are the XL500 shocks something like 15-1/2" long? Doesn't look 'jacked up' at rear though, maybe camera angle or is it really pretty level?
I dont think the 750 frame will give those frame clearance numbers that that bike got..sorry but you would have to put a D section in or a dogleg..

I ran a 750 swingarm in the 550 before. Exact fit. It will work.
Perhaps this 750 build will through some insight to the idea/inspiration. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=65268.0
