I was at a bike show this weekend and saw this. I was not so much inspired by the bike but more by the optimism of the owner/builder, although I must say it was finished with some nice detail.

Check out the beautiful race bike paint for 3-time World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss from my buddy Bondo (Andrew Babish), who paints my bikes. The mockup he worked off of from Ducati is pictured below. Bayliss is campaigning in the AMA Flat Track mile events only on a Lloyd Brothers purpose-build Ducati powered by an air-cooled 1000 cc V-Twin inspired by the new Scrambler. The fiberglass race bodywork is made by First Klass Glass.

So, my buddy and painter Andrew "Bondo" Babish recently got a sweet job to paint the new Lloyd Brothers Ducati AMA Flat Track bikes inspired by the Ducati Scrambler for none other than 3-time World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss. Bayliss is racing only the mile events commencing next weekend May 24th at the Springfield Mile.

Here's the mock-up he was provided. AMA required a larger white space for the number plate.

Here's the painted bodywork to conform to AMA rules:

Got taken to the hospital..possibly broken leg.. Bummer..
Them Kawasaki's been doing good in the mile..

Definitely broken. Bummer. He was getting a lot of Ducati people to watch flat track.

The good part..Bayliss, teamate placed 13th I think....not too bad.. Them Kawis are passing me off..I would rather see Ducati at the top....

I think it 650 upright maybe a twin..
I know I keep seeing headwork for sale on ebay under flattrack.. At 3500.00US for on head, it might be exchange.. They must be making at least 90 hp..

Correct. It's a tuned 650 Twin from a Ninja 650/Versys. Yamaha is late to the party -- they started selling crate FZ-07 Twin motors late last year to teams, but only one is competing in the GNC1 class. I think the Yamaha will come into its own next year. All are pupose-build chasis. The Ducati is not based on production Scrambler but carries the name since it looks like it -- similar to a stock car -- to promote the Brand.

The rules are pretty wild. The 650's from Kawasaki are watercooled and are kicking the tar out of the air-cooled Ducati 1100 twin.

That bike is pretty much how I like them, all the right mods to make it go and handle whilst looking cool and very close to stock ...

That one is an 836...
