Looks like a speed-dent to reduce the aerodynamic profile!  I've had a few of those custom installed before...
i doubt that .. since it's only on one side
::)

By only puting a dent on the right side, the bike is perfect for a left turn oval track.  Reduced air friction on the right side is the same effect as added drag on the left side, allowing for easier left turns.  The modification was obviously done with great care and precision, perhaps with a carefully swung paint can or dropped shovel/step-ladder.  I hear dealerships will often do this for free and not even charge the customer.

I only joke, of course...

AAHHHHHHH  .. thoooooose speed dents  ..  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D     (doh!!)

Thanks I just figured out how to post a pic and the old pics from the build are bigger and I am not sure how to get them on here, hahaha I know that sounds lame but it is really no big deal. Becuase there is just to much to post I think. It is better just to see the end result I think.

Also check-out the Honda Collection Hall pics we have on the SOHC 4 Website!  We took them a few years before yours..and the variety of bikes seems much broader now.  But there are some  additional shots of bikes..facilities on our Website.

Your pics though are outstanding in terms of technical and closeup shots [we really had a hard time getting seperate shots of the bikes in their entirety..they were all displayed so closely together]. Your shots really emphasize the technical and engineering genius of Honda..particularly in the early to late 60's.  Great work!

Ichi

Thanks Ichi but they're not mine, I found them while serching for info on the RC145.
I remember yours when they were posted, I'd love to go there some day.

I've never heard of the Horex marquee. There, I said it  ;D

Horex was a motorcycle manufacturer in Bad Homburg, Germany. It was founded in 1923 by the Rex glassware company, which conflated Homburg and Rex to create the brand name.

Which means it's pronounced Ha-rex not whore-ex I suppose  ;D

get a picasa web account and you can link to ALL the pictures you want in full size!  or you could just give us a link to your entire album and we could browse around.  if you haven't noticed yet, people like to see these bikes clean and finished, but it's about the journey, not the end result!  your bike is in the INSPIRATION gallery here for a reason!  it inspires people to do things they wouldn't normally do to their bikes, and we love seeing details like how you rigged up your oil and fuel tank!!  please post the pictures to a free online web account and link them to us!  then you can set up a build thread and tell everyone what all you've done to the bike so we can drool more!!!  picasaweb.com

Snapped a few pics on my phone at CycleX while getting my tires and wheel bearings changed today
