That is pretty cool, kinda of a mix of old and new..

This bike sounds way better then I thought it would. They did a heck of a job restoring it.

Nice show piece....but would ride terrible.  That leaf spring was no rebound.  On a bumpy road it would beat you to death.

It has some kind of a dampener on the rear swing arm as well... not saying that would make it ride well, just better maybe.

Joe,

There seems to be a rod-actuated damper under the frame.  (Not that that means the suspension is anything other than a work of fantasy, but at least there's a hat-tip to the need to dampen rebound.)
Take care,
David

At least with an old Case or John Deer they put the seat on the spring.  Probably rode better. ;D ;D

Why would that be.. ??? tractor has rigid rear, the bike is sprung..
Now what is up with all them sohc4 s out there with rigid mounted seats??.. oh gee.. guess that would be about the same...

I had a rigid bobber that I built.  It had a spring seat, and a sprigner front end.  It rode HORRIBLE.

Hydraulic shocks front and rear are the only way to go for a bike that will actually be ridden.

Not gonna argue about it, as I have been there.  Those that think I'm wrong will find out the hard and expensive way.

Some people can take a lot more than others..
I rode my stock fork, strutted rear 836 at least 600 miles first day out.. and it had been a lot of years since I did  any ride over 200 miles. ..

mid pegs help a lot.. how your springer is setup, and who made it can make a world of difference

Hey if it works for you...more power to ya!

As for me, I like hydralic suspension with full damping.

Heyyy..its Peter Gagan on the right in that pic!!

top 3 House/shop tours , I ever did.. one was his place when I went to buy some Whizzers from him.

At one time at the Vintage Races in Vernon BC.. he said.. I " I have never seen anyone enjoy a bike I sold as much as you are enjoying those Whizzers..".... :o At that time he had probably sold dozens...

Interesting thing he said.. "You could never own all the classic bikes at one time.. but if you do it right, you can own most of them over time..."
