Yes, El Gigante is the same bike. Didn't know there was video of it. Thanks for that!

Yea it must have been video that is older then that picture, I see Gigante that was on the tank is gone, and the tires have changed from Whitewalls to white letters. The final product looks way better, the fact that it screams is just a bonus..

Pondering what to replace my ganked machine - CX500's are still cheap and my time is still worth 0. If I didn't hate the Comstar's so much and had some welding skills... or a place to weld...

There's a 78 20 miles north for $500 and a guy parked his out front of my building to taunt me with it's potential...

The comstars actully look pretty good on the cx.. I'm also thinking of picking one up.

Anyone know of a write up or video on how to make this type of seat? I'm a seat n00b.

Just looking at the rear frame on that bike Zaipai, the rear tyre would hit that on a half decent bump, i would turn the rear frame uplike on the previous picture...

I see a lot of bikes that I would swear have rear tire clearance problems.

Clearly this man is insane...

And some more CX500s before I have to actually get some work done  ;D

I guess these are rims from the turbo model? Anyone know for sure cause I actually like these as compared to the regular Comstars.

Looks like it was inspired by an early Cannondale prototype.

Posted this question on the last page but... that front rim - Comstar off the turbo CX500? GL650?

Answered my own question:
CX500 Turbo came with those rims... and dual disks. Wonder if the triples just bolt up.

TT, this thread has also gotten to me. Because of it, I just picked up a 14,000 mile '76 GL1000 for $750! It's gonna be a very naked long-distance cruiser; great for an olphart like me.  8)

But that one is enough non-CB750's. If I go CX crazy, I hope somebody just shoots me!  ;D  RR

;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm mostly interested cause I'm betting that folks who would steal a machine off the street will have little interest in a CX no matter how good it looks. Likely the same with a GL.

Are you going to make a Read-Titan lookalike tank for the GL?

Hi Iggy, the wheels on the turbo are comstars but the wheels on the "lego" bike are an astralite on the rear and i don't know what the front wheel is but it is no comstar.....i know that much..... ;)

Don't bet on it...I had a friend had an old rusty crusty cb350 with a milk crate tied to the rack on the back, rode it like that for a year no problems...one day he took the crate off, washed and cleaned it up real nice, was looking out his window the next day and saw someone tryin to steal it.... ::)

Good eye. I was all caught up in Comstar hatred  ;D Still, the turbo Comstar's are pretty nice in comparison to what's on (almost) all the other machines.
