Hi Iggy, if you want those wheels without the shaft to suit a Honda, the late model 1100F's had them as well.....

Hmmm, hunting down Astralite cause it's good to learn things - the internet, in it's non-sequitor wisdom, throws this up while searching...

I was kind of wondering about that - on the Comstar front - are the spokes riveted in or are they bolted? Did anyone ever make replacement "spokes"? Not sure even if I got a CX that the shaft drive is the same standard to turbo so they may not just bolt up front and rear.

Anyways, thanks for indulging me here folks.

Are you going to make a Read-Titan lookalike tank for the GL?

Probably not, Iggy. I have more than enough on my plate for the foreseeable future. As time/funds allow, I'll go over this monster to see what needs refreshing, start looking for a deal on a Corbin Gunfighter seat, lower bars and a GPS. I may fit a "flyscreen" sized windscreen and will probably swap to a matching 2.75x18 or 3.5x18 DID rear wheel if possible; I'm not a big fan of the 17" stock DID rears. I really like Randakk's 4/4 exhaust but it's probably not in my financial future unless things take off this next year.

Anyway, I just want something to tour around on. I've never owned anything as big as a GW and I'm always interested in learning something new, especially if it isn't too expensive to screw up!   ;D   RR

Those rims look like the rims on my old cx650E....which was not sold in the US only Canada and maybe Europe

Posted this question on the last page but... that front rim - Comstar off the turbo CX500? GL650?

Answered my own question:
CX500 Turbo came with those rims... and dual disks. Wonder if the triples just bolt up.

That is correct, sir.  They are comstars, but often referred to as "boomerang comstars" and were only available on non-US CB-F bikes in '83 and '84.  Gold was on the CB1100F (Super Bol D'Or) and silver was on the CB900F (Bol D'Or).

We had gold ones on the last model F2 900 , the cbx 550F also had them in silver and the CB1100RD had them in gold as well.

Never saw gold wheels for a 900F or F2, interesting to hear.  Check those CBX550 wheels, not quite the same.

I hear there's a special place in hell reserved for people who pull apart a CB1100R.

If you are silly enough to pull one apart.....I saw a classified here in Australia today for an 1100 RD and it was going for 35,000 Aussie dollars.

That was from a European board doing pretty much the same thing we're doing. Just one pic - no info. Can't seem to find it in my history.

Yup.. sure is. Also, no air filters of any kind. No tail light that I can see, must be on the left side.. Good looking bike to be sure.
