I know..but it was the peanut tank that was the object of discussion.
Gotta thank you for that MC...decided to do a little research..couldn't find anything about Bronson's bike's troubles other than they were apparently merely "on loan" from HD and had to be returned when filming was over, but did find a cool site  http://www.thencamebronson.tv/   ..I'm ordering a couple of those "God's Eye" helmet stickers and a sew on patch...jeez...I was just starting high school then, what a bunch of memories that brings back. Probably a big part of why I never really seemed to "find my place" in the corporate world.  heh..also never realized that was a Schwinn sissy bar.. ;D

how do u know? theres at least 2 real ones out there

 :D :D :D :D
Actually i can only find documentation of one. That is the one that burned at the end of the movie, and was rebuillt and is in a museum somewhere. The other (there were 2 of the Capn America bikes and 2 of the Billy bikes) was stolen before the end of the movie along with both Billy bikes. The one in the pic above is a repro in a German museum. The last campfire scene of the movie, shot out of sequence after the final crash scene of the movie, was filmed without the bikes in the background as they were gone by then. I know none of this first hand of course, just put it together from sketchy histories. Lot of drugs back then.   ;D

Same kind of twisted backstory to the Bronson bike as well.

wow..if i knew how to spell touche i would... thats interesting.... just partial history i was inquiring about

Yeah...did a little more looking and don't see lot of difference between them...found these.. http://i14.tinypic.com/2ypep8y.jpg  http://i13.tinypic.com/3ypm64i.jpg
but I think it's all ebays fault       http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=peanut+tank

guess it doesn't really matter anymore...people just call things what they want regardless. Back in the day, a chopper was a stock frame that was chopped, that means it had the neck cut off and rewelded to give it a little more rake. if it wasn't cut off and rewelded, it wasn't a chopper. OCC and Jesse build custom bikes, NOT choppers. Nowadays there are folks calling bone stock Sportys choppers cuz real Harleys have windshields and saddlebags.

These two pics are my biggest motivation for building the Frankenbike project. I actually have the Triumph pic framed and on the wall next to me. I found it on this vintage British drag page. Lots of nice nutty stuff in B&W.

Man I rememeber those skinny tired dual engine Triumph dragsters. Who's the pilot?

Often they were fuelers. Thems were the days.

I've always liked the look of the old hill climbers as well but I never understood the purpose of the forward mounted running boards. It seems to me that you'd want some heavily cleated footpegs mounted somewhat rearward to stand on as you approached the hill. There's a 1950's BSA at the local motorcycle museum that I have always admired. It has tire chains made of sections of drive chain and of course, forward mounted running boards.

It'll be very interesting to see what kind of beast you have in mind as your build progresses. Are you doing an actual climber or a climber inspired street bike?

Them rearsets, I can tell you how to make them with a drill press, hacksaw, files and sandpaper... honestly..

 The big sprocket Indian hillclimber;
 I know the bike, I have seen it,  have been to the guys place in WA state, have bought  Indian stuff off him, but for the life of me cant remember his name..

 Plus he had it up here at out vintage track, he will probably show up in 11 if he knows it is open again.. neat stuff at our nearby Okeefe Ranch Cornfield Racetrack.. good thing I almost got the 754 hack going again..
