@Matt Hubbell,....it's a Rau frame with a Bol d'or engine made by Custom Wolf, Germany. http://www.custom-wolf.de/
I saw it at a motorcycle fair in Germany. The other bikes they build are not that exciting.
Here is an article about the company and another bike with a GSX engine, called scoop.

Well let me tell you guys, today I got an email from Jesse Rooke (bike builder). A few weeks back I sent a few emails asking for some photos of his KTM cafe racer seat cowl. I thought that all of my questions were being answered by a PR dude or shop manager.....turns out it was Mr. Rooke himself. Just thought it was really.....cool of him to get back to me and send a build photo.

now that is sweet looking

Holy crap. I can't decide if it's incredibly cool, or kinda sad.

It kind of begs the question of why there isn't a similar dedicated setup at the 2 - 300 pricepoint.

I'm guessing there soon will be - don't like your gauges. Download a software update.

I mean, if I can buy a freaking Droid X outright for $500 is there any reason I can't have something like this in a dedicated/waterproof form factor AND get to diddle the display to my liking.

I think not  ;D

C'mon free market. Do your thing.

I didnt watch it but am getting an idea..
 that with electronic instruments..
You could have a clean custom without visible instruments..
then plug into a hidden jack, mount the screen, and be riding legal.. hmmm... great idea..

Might be a nice theft deterrent too if it's obvious it's missing a part - like the face off a stereo system or somesuch.

Maybe I'm turning into a crotchety old man but it looks to me like just another useless application of technology. Positively ZERO style points in my opinion.

Yep, no way am I strapping my phone to the handlebars but you do see the potential in a purpose built LCD, right?

Potentially, if they opened it up, you could make your own gauges in any color/style you wanted. All a manufacturer has to do is provide the harness/connections to get you there and a platform to display the information so it could be stretched across a lot of different bikes.

Or is it just mid-winter and everyone's #$%*y?

why not make it a wireless setup?  that way it's hidden and minimal!

I think there may be some modern sport bikes that may look okay without guages and they probably already exist. I just think a vintage bike needs proper analog instruments. It sounds to me like you guys are describing either a wireless bicycle computer or one of these-

A friend of mine uses one that is a different brand but the same basic idea on his CRF250X along with a dualsport kit. It could easily be installed on a street bike.
