So Gordon, thanks for the wise-ass non-answer, but I'm interested in a real answer.  Is there a way to see the new posts that you are interested in without seeing "everything" that is new?

Does anybody know of a better way that I can implement today?

Okay, here it is.  Make sure you have something to write with.

Don't use the "Show unread posts since last visit" option!

I've been here since this version of the forums began and I've never used that option.  It's not a requirement.

Yes, Ernie, we've disagreed in the past, but I'm with you on this one.

Bill, haven't read all the other stuff, just your bumper sticker.
1) This ain't Viet Nam
2) I just assumed you are more intelligent than that.
3) Why would you spose it's necessary to stir up floatng doody?

NOBODY is calling returning soldiers any names or disrespectring them.
The crooked administration that sent them ro Iraq- that's another story.
So.  Why would an intelligent person like you feel the need to start something.  Those are Bush's tactice, not even especially Republicans.

Useless troll thread.  yeah- I love ya, but I'm steamed.  No good done here.  This country doesn't need knife fights like this.

+1 on the sticker and +1 on getting our troops safely out of ALL of the foreign hellholes that they are mired in.

I'm thinking that we screwed up royally by going over there in '91. Does it really matter to us who owns Kuwait? Would the sight of Saddam parading the Saudi princes through Riyadh on dog leashes have bothered me? Not really. The ol' Saddamizer had no problem selling all the oil he could pump and we would have bought it. We could have told him '$10 a barrel forever or else'. Desert Storm could have been the 'or else'.

58 years in Korea? WTF?

........
And that said, here is the hypothetical question, "If a leader in another country is killing people in his own country through weapons of mass destruction (a gas is a germ is a nuke) of through conventional means do we as a people have any obligation, moral or otherwise, to interfere with the internal workings of their country." ...

No. A couple billion times no. I would gladly sh!tcan the 'New World Order' for the old 'world disorder'. In a heartbeat.

Global Warming? Before that, there was the AIDS 'Crisis', Nuclear Winter, Watergate, Global Cooling, and The Population Bomb. Was the bomb ever defused? No, of course not. It was merely declared politically incorrect and buried under the ever so naïve notion that all the hungry must be fed, all war ended, and everyone would all sing Kumbaya together. 'Save' Darfur? How? Why? If the Ganjaweeds kill all the Darfians, the land is still too crummy to feed just the Ganjaweeds. Rwanda? Same deal. 'Save' the Tutus from the Hutsis so they can all starve. If the biggest cyclone in history wipes out 2/3 of the population of Bangladesh, there would still be twice as many people as the land can support.
Humans are no different from any other mammal - in the absence of predators the population will continue to multiply out of control. Kill all the coyotes and you get overrun with jackrabbits.

Immigration? Keep your huddled masses - we've got plenty already........

Just one question Mark...

Are you a Native American?  If not, then your family was one a member of the so-called "huddled masses".  God forbid we should do anything to help people in need when we have the means and the way.  But then again, it's hard to get motivated to do something when it's not your family who's being chopped by a machete' or raped by guerrillas.

Isolationism didn't work after the first world war...  If anything it bred a violent and dangerous threat to world stability.  So why do you think things would change if we closed our borders now and hoped everyone would leave us alone?

Love the Troll pics.  Reminds me of my childhood.

I also love the image of Ed spitting at the computer like a rabid animal.  And "forcing" him to read each and every post.  These buttons Ed is asking for sounds something like censorship.  Does he want a V-chip installed in his computer?  That sounds a lot like a Democrat.  Going left on us Ed?

Am I bad?

Yes, 333, censorship and totalitarian government control are what socialism is all about.  That's obviously not what I'm looking for.  I'm just looking to avoid wasting my own time with troller's stupidity.  Everybody else can feel free to waste (or not waste) their time however they like!

Not surprisingly, there is enough demand for these features that the SMF vendor has written it into the next version of this forum software.  Woo hoo!

Oh, now I get it!!!!  Some people think it is funny to act like juveniles and try to provoke others to anger, just because they get some kind of idiotic thrill out of it.  Wow, that's really funny guys.  I guess I'm a fool for not seeing how funny that is.

Jeez, I can't believe how excited I am that SMF is building a nit-wit filter for the next release.

Well ed you seem to think it is funny when you do, so why cant the rest of us!

Funny how we are all trolls you you are the one trolling on everyone here.

Try not to lie, you want censorship and you know it. Anytime you talk about filters, you are talking about censorship. Just stop coming in here and your world will be fine.

Think back to Vietnam, when the troops came home, what kind of reception did they get? :(  Thing is, the troops didn't decide where to go, they just tried to do as they were trained to do. If only Swartzkoff (or however you spell it) would have been allowed to get Sadam back then. ::) I don't know about everyone, but I feel that if a person is responsible for the killing and torturing of people (especially his own), he needs to be dealt with.

BTW, I didn't post this to start a huge discussion about anything except, Keep the troops in your prayers (if you are a praying person) and don't blame them for where they go (they are only following orders that they have sworn to do). That was the intent of this post. Too many times folks read into a post what isn't really there. Maybe I should have been more specific. :-\

                              I'm outta here,  Bill :-\

I agree with both your original post and this one. I want it noted I am exerting a colossal amount of energy to not voice my political views. Suffice to say I live in a New England town and am 180 degrees from the typical mind set here.  ;) :D

Thanks for the thought Bill; your heart's in the right place IMO.

OK, I have to add this after re-reading this funny/ sad thread. Today is the anniversary of MLK Junior's assassination. How about some peace among us?
