+1 on the sticker and +1 on getting our troops safely out of ALL of the foreign hellholes that they are mired in.
I'm thinking that we screwed up royally by going over there in '91. Does it really matter to us who owns Kuwait? Would the sight of Saddam parading the Saudi princes through Riyadh on dog leashes have bothered me? Not really. The ol' Saddamizer had no problem selling all the oil he could pump and we would have bought it. We could have told him '$10 a barrel forever or else'. Desert Storm could have been the 'or else'.
58 years in Korea? WTF?
........
And that said, here is the hypothetical question, "If a leader in another country is killing people in his own country through weapons of mass destruction (a gas is a germ is a nuke) of through conventional means do we as a people have any obligation, moral or otherwise, to interfere with the internal workings of their country." ...
No. A couple billion times no. I would gladly sh!tcan the 'New World Order' for the old 'world disorder'. In a heartbeat.
Global Warming? Before that, there was the AIDS 'Crisis', Nuclear Winter, Watergate, Global Cooling, and The Population Bomb. Was the bomb ever defused? No, of course not. It was merely declared politically incorrect and buried under the ever so naïve notion that all the hungry must be fed, all war ended, and everyone would all sing Kumbaya together. 'Save' Darfur? How? Why? If the Ganjaweeds kill all the Darfians, the land is still too crummy to feed just the Ganjaweeds. Rwanda? Same deal. 'Save' the Tutus from the Hutsis so they can all starve. If the biggest cyclone in history wipes out 2/3 of the population of Bangladesh, there would still be twice as many people as the land can support.
Humans are no different from any other mammal - in the absence of predators the population will continue to multiply out of control. Kill all the coyotes and you get overrun with jackrabbits.
Immigration? Keep your huddled masses - we've got plenty already........
