I've reused them lots of times.  I've even sanded some slightly buggered up ones down on a piece of sandpaper backed by a chunk of plate glass I keep around and they worked fine.

I would never recommend such a hazardous and foolhardy practice, though.   ;D

I reuse brake crush washers all the time.  In fact, it's a pain to find any place that actually sells the stupid things.  I happened to buy something else at Z1 Enterprises awhile back and saw that they had 10 packs of them so I ordered a set since the extra shipping costs would be zip.  I've asked before at dealers or at places like Cycle Gear and they all look at me funny.  "Crush washers"?  What are crush washers?  Nope.  We don't have any of those...

So when I part out old bike I keep the banjo junction boxes from the front brake lines.  Great source of extra crush washers and banjo bolts.

You mean, you don't keep EVERYTHING?  Sacrilege!   ;)

Seriously though, just google "10mm banjo bolt washer" or something similar and you'll find a gazillion places to order these.  You can also get them out of any major motorcycle parts catalog, metric or harley they're all the same.

Here they are at $3.95 for a 10 pack:  http://www.cyclepages.com/ProductGroupDisp.aspx?ProductGroupID=4602538

This site has them for $0.95 each:  http://poske.com/parts/FIT/index.htm

50 Cents each (copper):  http://www.slowboyracing.com/estore/product.php?productid=1924&cat=5&bestseller=Y

Also $3.95 per 10 pack (Russell brand, as on cyclepages.com):  http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/enthusiasts/catalog_items.asp?catalog=2269&levelcode=16832

Not to mention eBay:  http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=banjo+washer&category0=

Now, having said all that, I can't personally deny having not replaced crush washers when I should have, with few ill effects.  :P  BUT I do try to keep extras on hand for when I need them.

With all the doom and nay sayers, it makes me wonder how I've been able to reuse those washers without leakage all these years. :-\

Yes, in the ideal world replace them.    But, I don't recall any of them leaking with reuse...ever.  And, I don't anneal them either.  The plating would be destroyed, I expect.

thanks for the info especially the sources for the elusive crush washers. I ordered 10 ($3.50) from CBXMANmotorcycles.com. Honda has 4 here and I still may anneal 2 more. Can't pass up the opportunity to use fire.

Gotta go with new ones...
hym

So... when I went to my local honda dealership for  new crush washers for my brakes, I was told:

"They're a specialty piece, so they'll be $2.50 per washer..." What the #$@#@#$!!

I've found some on ebay in packs of 10, are the 10mm size the ones I need for standard brake fittings on a cb550?
