Air box/ air intake question

One of my rubber boots going from my air box to my carb is junk.  I was thinking of devising a cold air intake system and pulling the factory box out.  Im guessing i would have to rejet my carbs?  Any ideas on a four into one piping system so the plastic box can be removed?

Not really sure what im thinking really.  I would like to get rid of the factory air box (for looks reasons)  and add forced induction (for power) and to try and do it fairly cheaply.

Do a search for ram air or air scoops in this forum.

There are lots of issues to overcome.  Pressurizing the carb throats leans the mixture.  This becomes variable with air speed (head winds, too).  The carb bowls are vented to the atmosphere.  If you make these ram air pressure, too (to maintain jet orifice flow), then you have to deal with the fuel tank pressure, as well, since it's a gravity feed system.  Higher pressure in the carbs than in the tank reduces fuel flow from the tank, which is variable with the level of gas in the tank.  Fuel pump?
