Torque values for engine covers?

I've got my '78 motor all buttoned up and ready to install this weekend. While everything is still easily accessible, I'd like to know what Torque you guys are using on the valve cover, shifter cover, clutch cover, etc...  I've installed all the covers using 12 foot lbs. of torque and it "feels" about right but want to double check. I'm using stainless hex head(allen) bolts if that makes a difference.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

12lbs  is a lot Sean. I'd say 5lbs to 6lbs. Make sure you use anti seize on those bolts!

Thanks guys. Do you think I should back off the torque, or will the gaskets sealing properties be compromised by my "heavy handedness? I actually set everything at 8ft. lbs before going to 11.5 'cause it seemed so loose, DOH! Not even a 1/8 spin of the bolt between these two settings so I'm almost inclined to leave it unless this might actually cause leaks or thread failure. Thoughts?
