Mountain Kitty

So the game department has been denying for years there are any
mountain lions around here. The wife, the son and I have all seen them.
This sort of blows the Game Departments cover. This one hit by a car not
to far from our place. I think the fellow pictured must be a taxidermist.

The government will tell you what they have been told, they dont know anything and they will not listen to the locals, you know nothing, they run the place and so they know everything

Even here out on the bald prairie, there have been regular sighting of cougars. The secretive critters follow the large wooded valleys that cross the plains in search of prey and now every summer joggers on trails along the river inside the city see them. Fewer hunters mean exploding deer populations and the cats seem to have lost their learned fear of humans.
Robert - unlike black bears which usually give some warning by bluff charging, huffing and jaw popping, the sneaky cats silently lay in wait and then jump on your back. Do you think about this when you are hiking over the ridge to see the falls in the next valley?             Personally,  I would like to have Mr. Smith at my side :)

A pistol?  Are you kidding?

Against the cat, if you are alone, you're dead.  You'll never see him until he's got you.  Your only hope is that he goes after your buddy first.  Or that your buddy has a gun also.  And in that scenario, You're going to have to get off a very lucky shot.  I don't care how good you think you are, in a panic situation there's an even chance you would hit your buddy by mistake while they wrestle.

You could empty 2 clips into a bear, and while he might die, it will be a day or two later and well after he's eaten you.

A full blooded Coyote was hit by a car in the Bronx a couple of years back. I have been seeing them on and off for the last 15 years. The State claimed there were no Coyotes this far south. Well one the bodies piled up on the roadways and peoples cats were disappearing. Truth is the State brought them in quietly to control the Deer population.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

There was a 70+ year old dude on Van Island a few years ago that got pounced on while walking on a logging road.

He killed it with a knife he had with him.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then walked 3-5 miles to a logging camp for help.

I remember that, but I think the cat was smaller & sick.

This one in the pic looks like it would have its teeth in your neck, before you could draw...plus it looks like you would have a hard time shaking him off your back..

Looks like the picture might be a hoax. Been making the rounds as from all kinda places.
So I guess our photographic proof for round here just bit the dust. I'm going to have to
start carrying a camera.
