Not Dylan but equally cool. A Mr. Tom Waits.

Tom would ride a 750...

Well, that settles it then. A 750 it is!

My 750 is my first bike. Front forks are a few inches longer than stock too. It seemed giant when I got it.

I Got used to it after a few thousand miles (much like driving a big car) I'm 5'10" and 155-160. And I have no problems at all handling it. Unless it leans too far in the wrong way.

I do a lot of freeway riding and the 750 was made for that!

I like being able to see over most cars roofs while I'm riding.

I use to live in Cinci, you should go and talk to Len at Autobahn they are down off of Spring grove, they restore mostly old BMW's but do other makes too. Tell him what you are looking for if he does not have it he may be able to help you find one or let you know if he comes across one. They have an open house I think the first Saturday of every month, it's fun and you will see all kinds of bikes. If you talk with him tell him Glen (the Honda guy) says Hi, here is their web adress

I was once scolded by one of my good friends by claiming that I enjoyed listening to Neil Young more than the Beatles. I've listened to Time Fades Away more than I care to admit.

This is reassuring. Now I want a CB750 real bad.

I found a '79 CB750K available pretty close. It has a new seat and is in "good running condition". He's asking $800. What do you guys think? Should I offer him $700 and see what he says? Weren't there changes made in the '79? Is it worth going for?

Found another bike about 2 hours away. I'm contacting the seller about possibly arranging a sale. Problem being it's missing a front brake caliper and can't be ridden home, so I need somebody to take some dimensions for me to see if we can fit it in my friend Taylor's van.

Here's the ebay link.

Can't ride it home without a front caliper? Why not, chopper guys have been doing it for centuries! ;D

Seriously though, I see the auction has ended so did you get it?

Don't know if you bought that 750 or not, but I drove mine from Denver to Eugene, OR in the back of my friend's '84 Toyota van, so fitting in your friend's van shouldn't be a problem unless it's even smaller than a Toyota.  The only thing I had to do was loosen the handlebar clamps and pull the bars down so they'd clear the top.  The bench seat latch points made great spots for hooking the ratchet tie-downs.

Uh-oh!  This could get as bad as a tire debate! :o ;D

For the record, though.  I'd have to say that Tom would disagree. ;)

Tom Waits much more than Bob...anyday. I think my views on Bob are echoed in the fairly rare Syd Barrett track "Bob Dylan Blues" - don't think Syd liked Bob when he came to London for a brief tour in the late sixties, gave the impression he'd sold out to commercialism.

Argh, see what happens when I sleep? I missed it. The guy is still offering me the 79, though, but I want a SOHC.

And as far as Bob and Tom go, they're both iconic and I enjoy both of their music very much (but tend to listen to Tom Waits more), we'll leave it at that.

Agreed!  Take your time, the right one will come along, and probably a lot sooner than you think.
