I think this one pretty much speaks for itself.

Nobody said you couldn't race an HD.  You just can't win with one.  Unless you're racing against another one.

I'm pretty sure it's just Beemers.  I'll admit, I've never been to bike week, but my former boss has gone every year.  He came back one year with a great story.  The idea is that all the bikes are the same, albeit perfectly dialed in, but bone stock 1000cc(?) Boxers.  Then they put some great former and current racers on them and let them go.  My friend said that they were using the grab rails to pull around each other!

Actually I think one of the ONLY stipulations was that it was 1000cc.

There is an ex Reg Pridmore  Daytona bike in the area, I think it ran in Superbike, I did a bit of work for that guy..

But there was definitely at least 3 brands in BOTT.. and one I remember was called Lucifers Hammer, and if you think you can outride it, it would be a good race,, bring a twin..

There was I guy named Gordon Linfield that raced around the same time as I did in BC (mid seventies) that bought an ex Reg Pridmore early BM superbike. It was a fast machine.

May be the same bike.

I cant remember the name.. might be him.. was either a pilot or Aircraft wrench,, think it was pilot.
Did you race at Westwood? I never went to any RR, was more of a dragracer..

He did tell a few stories about the racebikes they were brutal on parts.. seroius engine wear in that racing..

Have not seen him in over a year..

I joined the racing club when I arrived in Van. and the very first time I went to the track for a workcrew or something and this guy Gordon Linfield asked me if I wanted to take a lap or two. My 750 had a worn out 810 top-end but I thought I was pretty fast, from the east & all.... you get the picture. I didn't know this was an ex Pridmore AMA superbike and I tell you what I lost sight of him fairly quickly and by the time we hit the end of the straight he had vanished.

I limped back into the pits with my tail between my legs and some of the guys got a good laugh out of it including Gordon. That was a fast bike and Gordon was no slouch either!!

You're thinking about the "Boxer Cup".  It was the single make series that travelled with the AMA show.  They don't do it in the US any more.  There were some replica bikes sold here that were pretty nice.

Battle of the Twins is another series with Buells, Ducatis, Aprilias, and some others.

Here is your chance to show OHC is better!
« Reply #18 on: April 04, 2008, 07:32:25 PM »
Think back to 83, here is your chance to make pushrod motors look bad, simply post what your OHC could do that year.

I mentioned Lucifers Hammer racing in BOTT long ago..

Now I will tell more of the story.

In 1983 HD decided to re-enter road racing  and put an entry in BOTT at Daytona. This decision was made 60 days before race day!! HD race department consisted of 6 people.

They got the bike together and ran at Daytona . Springsteen was riding. He won beating,TT F2 Champ Tony Rutter (Ducati), and AMA BOTT Champ, Jimmy Adamo ( by 24 seconds in 50 miles)

Then Gene Church  started riding it and won  3 BOTT championships for Harley..

The bike made 106 hp, and ran 170 on the straights..

Not too bad for a pushrod twin in my books... ;D

What was that title on this thread??

Nope..

There is a very, very nice article on Lucifers Hammer in Cycle Canada this month..

I bet you could make money betting the Ducati crowd about  the time HD waxed all the Ducks at an AMA event :o..LOL.

Also a page and pic of a Rickman CB 750, owned by a fellow named Liu or something like that.
