Wider rims for CB550??
« on: April 07, 2008, 07:42:26 AM »
I thought I was brilliant finding some nice alloy rims on ebay. They were dirt bike take offs and cheap, then I realized our CB's have 40 hole rims,... doh!!

I need tires and would love to upgrade rim sizes if I could do it with some cheap ebay parts. Any ideas an what other bikes used 40 hole rims in 2.15 x 19 front and 2.5 x 18 rear?? Alloy would be great but chrome would do too. I know I could buy new alloys but they would double the cost of my bike.

I have clearance to run a 110/90-19 tire on the front and a 120/90-18 on the rear if I could get some rims. I really hate to put those skinny bicycle tires back on it.

Just keep an eye on feebay!
Search Akront regularly, there is a guy that posts them every now and again.
I found a 2.5"x18" front and 3"x18" rear which I fit with 110 and 130 tires.
You just have to be patient.
