Given the opportunity, which bikes would you chose to take a ride on? Keep in mind that there is No Limit mentioned here, so just let loose!

Mine (that i can think of, at the moment) would be:

53' Indian Chief, 42' Indian Four, Indian TT Warrior (50' I think), Indian Model 841 (like my Dad had), 39' Indian Scout (like my Dad had) 101 Scout, 60's Honda 250 6 cyl Race bike (can't think of the actual model), Ariel Square Four, The 50's ( I think) BMW with the Earles Fork, Norton Commando (Factory and Dunstall), Vincent Black Shadow, Jawa 500cc 2 cyl DOHC Road Racer, CR750 Honda, CBX, BSA Gold Star, Yamaha Vmax, Kaw H2 750, Norton Manx (500cc), Matchless Typhoon (600cc single) 57' Indian Apache and any year Indian Trailblazer (55 - 59) 55' Indian Woodsman (like my Granddad had) 39' Indian Chief( like my Granddad had)

That's all I can think of at the present time and, if I was talking about the bikes of our members, there would be a whole new list. ;D

                                  Take care, Bill ;)

For old times sake I'd like to take all of the bikes I have owned out for a ride. None really leap out as being unforgettable, though.

I guess if I was pressed I'd say the first three (72 CB175, 73 CB250 and 74 TS125) would be the ones I would pick first, on the basis that they were the first and I have an abiding affection for 'small' bikes.....hence Motogiro BC.

A first year KZ650 (mid '70's?) w/Kerker like my brother had, a Kawi H2 750, an early CBX with 6 into 6 pipes (sounds like a jet fighter), a Norton 750 Commando, a VROD and a Buell XB9SX Lightning.

  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
I'd like to ride one example of every motorcycle, every scooter, moped, min-bike, trike etc ever built.

If I rode one a day, I reckon I'd have to live until I was 200 at least, and no, I wouldn't get bored either, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I rode the GT back in about 75..
on a familiar stretch of corners near where I lived.. there was no sensation of cornering.. the road merely got closer on one side.. much like when I rode the Ducati Mach 1 through there. And I remember thinking..riding a Honda is nothing like that, you feel you are in the corner all the time..

Bike I want to ride, to scare the piss outa myself,
the Curtiss V-8 out of the Curtiss Museum.

Around 1909 or 1911 they were runnng speed trials on a beach on the east coast.. a new world record was set for motorcycle that day.. around 90mph..

After most of the people left, they dragged out the Curtiss V-8, and ran an unofficial 129 or 131ish :o

The bike took a mile or two to stop, it had  a wedge brake in a v-pulley on the back wheel. The bike is still in the Curtiss Museum. A while back I picked up a colored postcard of that bike on ebay.

if anyone can post a pic of that bike, it would be much appreciated..

You have fine taste young man! And what a great clip from Oulton Park too - shame they didn't let it through the old Knickerbrook on full chat and full lean.

The one I'd really love to try and ride - even just move let alone do the 100+ mph they used to do on it is the 1923 Temple Anzani - an awesome thing.

It's on page 66 of the March 2008 issue. Kenny Roberts on the Yamaha GP bike is on the cover

Side note; Is it just me?  Or did that Yamaha US yellow, white and black colour scheme make for the best looking race bikes ever 8)

Duh! There's me thinking this thread meant which of your ex-bikes would you want to ride! I've never ridden a big (500cc+) two stroke and have always wondered what it would be like...from the relatively 'calm' GT750 to the frenetic Mach 1.

I think a Vincent Black Lightning. A guy has one around here and it looks amazing. I also like the song Richard Thompson wrote about it.

Only two bikes that I really wish I could ride nowadays.

Out of nostalgia..a Mark III Ariel Square Four.  Fastest these old bones (now) travelled on a bike..125 MPH.

But have always longed to ride a Vincent Black Shadow.  Would love to take one to 100 MPH +.  Saw, heard many.  Never had the chance to actually mount and ride.  Most Vincent owners I found were extremely protective of their bike.

Know I could ride newer crotch rocket to 150+ easily..but that doesn't interest me quite as much as reliving past dreams with Ariels or Vincents.

Come to think of it..haven't actually ridden Honda CBX 6 either.  That would be a rush I feel.

I'd really like to take an old Vincent Black Shadow for a spin because of my Dad. You see, he got the chance to ride one years ago  (back in the early 50's, I believe) and in just a few blocks (3, I think he said), he was running around 100mph! When I asked him if he stopped there, he said (with a grin), "Not hardly"! :D Said he got up around 120-125 and backed off. Said he didn't know exactly how fast it would run, but it was pretty strong up to that point. He also said he had wondered why the speedometers were so large and in that position and at 120-125, he suddenly know the answer. It was built and placed like that, SO YOU COULD SEE AND READ IT at speed! :D So, I'd like to do it, to experience what he did. ;)
