69 CB750 Neutral switch
« on: April 10, 2008, 03:38:19 AM »

Hi to all.
Well my neutral light is staying on, just flickering a bit on changes. After a bit of mucking around am sure it is the switch that is the problem. I decided to change it.  After removing the 2 pipes then undoing the wire going to your switch and the retaining bolt it just wont budge. Tried putting the screw back in and with a screwdriver leaver under the head of the screw. Also tried with a pr of long nosed pliers could not even twist it.  My next idea was to remove the hard plastic (in bits) from the centre of the switch and see if I could find a bolt to fit. This may give me something better to grip.
Has anyone any ideas
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

have not chatted in a while, if you are trying to remove that neutral switch.. the plastic threaded section is a real pain to get out... mine had 4 small holes in it, and I managed to use a small pin spanner to get it out - and I did break some of the plastic off as well because it had been in there a looooong time.....

I gave it a clean and very carefully after much cleaning of the case thread and the remaining plastic section managed to get it screwed back in and working nicely again..... if it plays up again, next time I think if the part is still available I would buy a new one....

cheers...

charlie

There is a rubber o-ring sealing the switch to the crankcase.Grab the outside of the metal switch housing with channel lock pliers and twist and wiggle while pulling out switch.Rock On
