Whoo! free parts bikes RULE!! '84 Kawasaki 600cc
« on: September 07, 2008, 09:26:02 AM »
Just had to share, and was wondering if anyone knows of interchangable parts from this bike for the SOHC hondas...

Went to a add for a "free recycling stuff - bike frame, and window parts PLKEASE take this off my hands!!" ok KSL locally...was only 1 exit up past me on I-15 at that.
99% of the time i either miss these "free" items, they end up wanting money, or the bike frame.... is a bicycle frame all bent up.
Not this time!!

I picked up a 80-85% complete GPZ600 Kawasaki....! all the plastic is buggered seats toast, tank is ok, no dings, looks like it was rode from here to... well you can fill in the rest.
No title, but got a bill of sale. 'eh can't argue.
Lots of electrical bits missing is the only thing i have noticed so far.

Bike has a vance and hines exhaust, CV carbs(hoping they space correctly for my next '79cb650 based motor!!)
The rear master cylinder for the brakes works, and will work to replace the buggered brake MC that was going to be used for the rear disk brake on my '82cb650c project.

The wheels.... OOOHHH.... I wanna use them, but I REALLY don't know on that one, the kawa is a monoshock. But i have complete mod freedom on the '82 650 so if it's possible I might do it.
Front end might be swappable as well, not sure.
Will have to definately use the kawa tripples if i use the forks though.
Not sure, it's just taking up space and wrenches have yet to touch this freebe yet.

If nothing else I'm hoping to use what i can, and get a "lack of info" title for the frame and sell the frame and motor.

Just had to share!

Well.....

2 things I found out about the carbs so far just from trial and error so far.(can't sleep with those sitting out in the garage well...)

1.) Thew carbs are a PERFECT fit for a CV 650 head using stock cb650 carb isolators for the CV head.(the head is not on a bike so cannot guarantee in bike fitment, but they are thinner and shorter than cb650 CV carbs)

2.) With the Kawasaki 600 carb isolators, some o-ring lube and a good shove they also happen to fit the '79/80 mechanical cb650 head as well..... however you have to make the isolators go a bit at more of a jog than they did in the Kawasaki head. They do seat fully though.
