Cycle World forums...
« on: August 13, 2005, 12:10:25 PM »
Anyone go to these?  Some intersting stuff going on, but I gotta wonder if there are any moderators- some of these guys are very vituperative and vitriolic with each other and rather than just walk away their egos seem to need to keep coming back for more.
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas with what's up~

The more I see on this computer, the more I have to congradulate all the folks here on being (or doing a good job of pretending to be) intelligent and professional.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

That's typical for the internet. It allows people to be bigger #$%*s than they normally would be, due to the anonymity factor.

I agree though, folks here are respectful and kind. I haven't visited my favorite Mercedes board recently, but they were pretty decent there too.

Ernie,

I have not visited these forums but I know what you mean.
I look on a townships forum in the states that I lived in for a while and belive me, some of the things that people get away with saying would put you in jail in the UK.
This is the different societies that we live in and the same goes for that gun thread that I would'nt get pulled into.
Two countries with different attitudes towards things.
Thank God for the one thing we have in common  BIKES,

In every forum there is always a little bit of off-topic, that's normal to some extent and help to know each other better and to digress a little from the same subject of everyday. The key point is to keep the good manners and respect, and this forum has been polite even when talking about sheep-molesting-habits   ;D

Well, I've been waiting to nuke someone with my moderator-laser, but I haven't even had occasion to pack it out of its box yet! But I think all specialist bike forums (am also member of XT600 forums) are populated by genuinely decent people who appreciate the information value of the internet, and their forums.

Pity, though... ;)

I'm sometimes on that forum, Uncle Ernie.   I stick to the Classic Bike section, mostly.  It seems that  the CW Forum goes in cycles. ;D Everything is ok for awhile, than it blows up into an "anti any forum" war.

Some of those dudes that are the trouble makers, have meet each other, in person, and  still have problems with each other for years.  ::)

When I visit the CW forums I go sometimes  just  for the laugh. But, I found myself not posting about motorcycles as much as other forums. I'll visit other motorcycle forums, like this one, and its never a problem.
