78' CB750 Rotors?
« on: April 14, 2008, 11:37:30 AM »
Put comstars on my bike, before i look into a Supersport front end, does anyone know of a rotor that will work on the comstar wheels and match up with the factory front style caliper?  Obviously the comstar rotor is much smaller in diameter and actual thickness, even with it properly spaced im only touching on half the pad.  Thanks

The Supersport rotors are indeed almost half the thickness of the K rotors.  The '79K Limited Edition, '79 CB650, and '80 CB650 Custom each came with Comstar mags with the single rotor.  There may be a few other models with the same set-up, but I am not sure.  The Comstar single rotor is the same (or very close) thickness as the '78K spoked wheel rotor.

Right.  If you are going with Comstars, makes sense to upgrade to the F2/F3 models front brakes as well.

or the DOHC 1981-82 dual piston calipers since they work so so so much better than the SOHC F stuff.

now will those dual piston calipers line up and mount to a set of Supersport forks?

They will but you need the mounting brackets from the dohc as well.

i located a 1982 sc750 custom parts bike.  It has the whole front end on it, would this be something to look into?  Will the forks take my triple tree or would it be a full swap?  let me know what you guys think.  I can snag it for $75... Thanks
