These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

I'm Back! Man, it makes me feel good to know that you guys missed me,and see, I told my wife people liked me, and she just laffed out loud and stubbed her cigarette butt out in my eye! Man that smarts! Ah well, you gotta make sacrifices to keep the family together.........

Anyway, truth is, I've been off the air doing a computer based course at work (Army) and am still waiting for my new high speed internet connection at home (should be on later this week) so I haven't had a chance to look at my favourite site (this one) much in the last couple of weeks.

The good news is that not having internet access has meant that I've been out in my garage for the last few evenings after work (not to mention a couple of weekends) so I've now got the K1 "Rat Bike" together! Woohoo! This is the bike I built entirely outta parts either bought on ebay, or scrounged offa you guys, all I started with was an engine that came with my K3, (it's now fitted with a swap meet sourced K6 engine, but I may swap them in the future) Geoff in Sydney gave me a bare K1 frame and a 16 inch "Hog" back wheel, lou in Canada gave me a wiring loom and we horse traded for some other vital front end parts, Clyde in Sydney sent me a battery box and a sidestand, Sean in Oakland, Ca, sent me all the electrical gubbins, and Chris Boomhower is sending me a "Funky Tank".

Man, it felt good to fire up that engine though, I felt like Dr Frankenstein late on Saturday night when I finally kicked it into life, (3rd kick, no #$%*) I felt like screaming (in a maniacal way) "It's Alive"! Anyway after 7 years of sitting dormant it's so nice to hear it again. I'd rebuilt the clutch, cleaned and "bench synched" the carbs and adjusted the cam chain with the valve cover off so I could see it was done right, and that engine, is quiet, so quiet I can hear those ancient points clicking away under the points cover, soo-poib! Thanks for caring about me men, I feel elated just to know that you all missed me, i think I'm gonna (sniff) cry, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

     Rumor had it that you had bought a Harley, put on straight pipes 'cause" loud pipes save lives". Then scared the crap outta some five year old kid who was dangling from the back of her gun toting dads bike. He subscribed to the "shoot anything that moves" idea and shot off your third ball. I also heard that he sent a tasty sundae to your hospital bed.

     Get that 'net service started so we can see some pics of your "Funky Tank Rat Bike".

I want to get hold of another k1 frame / swingarm - so i can transfer the bits as i go -
that way i won't lose track of what goes where and i can refer to the other bike
so if you know of anything...

Does this idea have any merit?

G'Day Brooksey, The only problem that I can see is that of originality, as you'll have to register it with a different frame number? Also, if you can't find a K1 frame and use a K2 frame, then arguably, it's now a K2, and so on.

You'll find that you'll need to restore (sandblast/paint/powdercoat/replate) lots of smaller parts along the way that you won't have spares for, so you're best just pulling it apart, then placing all the little bits in zip lock bags marked "battery box" and "engine mounts" etc, but most importantly, get a K1 parts manual (I can send you one on CD) the parts manual, as opposed to the workshop manual, gives you "exploded diagrams" of every assembly, and even lists the length of the bolts required!

Speaking of bolts, don't buy new ones, if yours are just rusty and corroded, get them re-zinc plated, it's cheap (used to cost me about 50 bucks for every nut and bolt on the bike) and you don't have to worry about trying to find a new stepped side-stand bolt from the "unobtainium" catalogue! yeah, i can see your point.
i guess i'm still just throwin ideas around at the moment - collecting info and getting a game plan together.
these things have a way of working themselves out - that's part of the fun

sometimes you work towards doing something and then you get steered off course to something better
(k9 project... ) anyway,
the parts manual would be good - thanks
pm me and i'll give you my address

maybe i will look for another frame to build the "special" and do the K1 to original specs.
i'll let the cosmos decide
