Are there any rules on where to and where not to use locktite on your bike?

I would not use it anywhere that generates a lot of heat - at ~300 deg, loctite turns to grease and whatever its holding in will back out due to vibration.

blue locktite for stuff you may have to remove, redlocktite for stuff you never want to come loose and you really don't have any intenion of removing ever again.

Don't get carried away and locktite stupid stuff....what do I mean by stupid stuff? Well if you still run points, DO NOT locktite the points cover, espically if you have those philips head screws made out of a slivery substance resembling the softness of butter. Don't locktite your oil pan bolt either.

Personally I make it a rule not to locktite any philips head oem screw on a honda as they are hard to get off as it is without the threadlocker. It is great if you have a stainless allen kit and you want to keep those buggers in place.

and JB weld is not a "stronger" version of locktite

Actually, guys on this forum were recently talking about just the opposite!  Using anti-seize on all the bolts so you can remove the screws later in one piece.

every tool has it's uses and that includes the chemical variety. there are places to use antiseize and not to use it as well.

A lot of people recommend it (including myself) where you have aluminum parts mated to steel parts to prevent dissimilar metal corrosion from creating it's own natural version of locktite.
