Chain Index Marks.
« on: April 15, 2008, 09:50:08 PM »
Saw this on a thread today (no need to drag it up)

They said the axle alignment was out by almost 3 lines on a 77/78 750 K, I think it was.

Does that even sound possible to anyone? I am starting to think the frame and or forks are pushed to one side a bit.

Just seems hard to believe that Honda would let out a swingarm that bad.. like you could not really get it an 1/8 inch out in a welding fixture.. I am thinking..

Or if the swingarm bushes are slightly out of round, or the swingarm is bent, or the rear axles is worn, or rear wheel bearings are stuffed....etc etc...
my old 250 was nearly 1/2" out on the sprocket side.... but it was perfectly aligned in respect to the front wheel.. thats a thought maybe the front wheel wasn't lined up in the trees properly.... oh crap another headache for the new owner.... :)
