Seat question
« on: April 17, 2008, 06:52:57 PM »
I notice in the parts manual I have the 73 CB750 seat has a different part number than the 74&75 seats, does anyone know the difference if there is one? I'm looking to buy one on eBay and they're all listed the same from 72-76, just want to make sure. Thanks.

There is a difference in seat pattern both on the top and on the side. The K2 seat has more padding than the K4-K6 seat (which were essentially the same). The line on the side of the seat is also a giveaway. The K1 seat is thinner than the K2 seat and again different pattern (more raised bumps on the K1). I have a K1 seat and K2 seat and most of the ones you see on Ebay are K4-K6 seats which are not as comfortable in my opinion.

K2 seat pattern:

K4 seat pattern (thinner)

What, no hot biker chicks in the photos, Andy? You're slipping. We'll just have to admire your bikes instead. And they are admirable, incidentally.

Okay, thanks for the help, that answers my question. I gather that in a pinch all the seats will fit the difference is in the padding and cosmetic.

I purchased a new seat from a Honda dealer a year ago for my 73 and when I just went in to see about a seat for the 75 I just purchased I had them check and all seats up to 77 have been discontinued and are unavailable.

Here's a pic of my 73 with a proper seat so from the pics Andy posted it has the thick padding. According to the parts book this particular seat only came on the 73s. Thanks for the help.
