CR750 twin disc conversion - disc options
« on: April 15, 2008, 01:07:31 PM »
Over on the other side of the pond, there's been some forum discussion about what discs to use for a twin disc CR/CB750 conversion.  I've replaced mine with custom discs grafted onto the CB750 rotor centres. The discs are made from 290mm diameter, 4mm thick cast iron and the old CB750 discs are taken in, refurbished and have these lovely rotors grafted on. The cast iron is treated with a zinc preparation to assist in corrosion protection for the unswept areas of the rotor and they stay mighty good for the life of the disc if my experiences on the Black Bomber racer are anything to go by.

The work is all done by CAT Engineering in the UK - it's not the cheapest way to do this but it gives one finger stopping power which is great for racing. So, especially for Voxhonda, here's a pic of the discs I'll soon be fitting to my CR750 replica front end, well, soonish  ;D

Thanks for the pic! Do they bolt or rived the disk to the centre? Have a set of turned down and drilled disks, but these really look the biz!

Rob
Better sorry for failing then for the lack of trying.

They bolt to the centres, the bolts are then cut off and peined over so you can't undo the nuts from the other side ( I tried once....long story but I had to drill them out so just as effective as rivets!)  ;D
