SOHC Pistons
« on: April 22, 2008, 02:02:53 AM »
Hi all, I am rebuilding my 1978 K7, can anyone tell me if all 750 SOHC K series pistons will fit in any engine. There are some on Ebay that say they fit from 69 to 75. Would these fit the 78 K7.

Thanks, Mike

The bore size and wrist pin id is the same on all sohc 750's mate, but the shape of the crown changed several times.

I don't think that's a major issue though, the Wiseco 836cc pistons will fit all but the F2/F3 (and they'll still work, but due to the larger combustion chamber on the F2/F3, will reduce the compression ratio) with the one dome shape.

I've just installed the higher dome F2/F3 pistons in an F2 engine fitted with a K6 cylinder block and head, and while it's running ok in my driveway, I haven't ridden it anywhere yet to give me the confidence to recommend it.

Bottom line, is yes, those EBay pistons will probably work fine. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
