K1 Fork Boot Install
« on: April 18, 2008, 06:56:23 PM »
So I got my new fork boots for my K1 today and now I need to know the "trick" for installing them. I am guessing that they are installed onto the headlight ears and then when the front end is together, they are pushed onto the fork lowers, but how do you get them onto the headlight ears with the chrome trim ring (easily)?

TIA, Phil

Use a hairdryer Phil to get them soft and they should slip right over the rings. Takes some finger dexterity and the rings have to be in the correct orientation.

Good luck!

Andy,

I got them on and it seems right. The boots just seem too big to actually go into the rings, so what I did was to put the rings on the headlight ears first, then slip the boots on from the bottom and then orient everything correctly. So it seems that the rings go on top of the boots and hold them into the grooves with some downward pressure. Is that correct? Certainly seems to be, but my memory is a little foggy on when I took them apart, plus they were really stiff.

Thanks, Phil
