Up close, the bike looked like 1,000,000 working hours and I decided I'll wait with getting a bike until I get my own place where I can work on it, my apartment just isn't big enough for a Honda.... Right now the alternative would have been keeping it at a friend's garage, thus making it a bit inconvenient working on it.
I think someone already said this, but it is worth repeating... Get something you can ride now, agree on a price BEFORE you give it a test ride at his place, that way if you wreck it on the first trip you know how much you owe the guy, and if it doesn't run the way you like it, then you can move on to something else.
And you RIGHT! You will need a place to work on the bike (and store it, it won't last very long out in the weather). When I decided to get back into riding, I made plans to add a carport (no side walls). I had the bikes under a tent canopy for 2 months before getting the carport.
I had one of those metal carports built, when the guys showed up to construct it, I asked how much to enclose 1/4 of it for a tool shed, only $100 extra (they did it 'on the side' which is what I was hoping for).
It worked out really nice, I have some tarps that I put up on three sides, it helps protect the bike more, and it adds a little (very little) security cause you can't see inside, AND in the summer you can drop the sides for a breeze.
Later, Phil
