Hydraulic Caliper for Honda CB200 Disc Brake?
« on: April 17, 2008, 01:46:42 PM »
Hey!

One of my buddies gave me a CB200 last night.  It's a bad ass little bike that spent its previous life as a dirt tracker.  Consequently, it has no front brake.  I'd like to install a brake for street use.  The original disc brake was operated by cable rather than hydraulics, which from what I've read doesn't stop all that well.  It would be no problem to dig up a stock rotor and install it.  If I do that, is there a hydraulic caliper that will bolt on?  I'm not opposed to a little fabrication, just thought I'd try the easy way first.

Thanks,
Ed

Stock cable when in good order and adjusted right will work good enough to sqeal the tyre, having said that i expect parts aint easy to come by

Bryan,

I think I'm going to try the cable setup first before I abandon it... IF I can find the parts!

Last night I tried mounting the caliper & bracket from my buddies CB550 on my CB200.  I won't admit why we had to take the caliper off his bike, but it *almost* fit on the CB200.  The two bolts on the caliper joint lined up perfectly, but the caliper pin was too long.  I'd like to have a look at the hardware from a CB350 or CB450.

Thanks for the offer to look for the parts.  I'm headed to the Oley, PA swap meet this Friday... I'm hoping to find an entire CB200 parts bike.

Thanks Mark.  That saves me some effort!  Looks like I'm sticking with the cable brake.

I just bought 2 cb200 parts bikes and both have the front brake system intact. PM me if you need any parts
