Assuming that is the real deal... then what the he*l is the holdup?

There should/ought to be no end of "financiers" tripping over themselves to get in on the ground floor I'd imagine, allowing this technology to be widespread ASAP!

It's the "holy grail" surely?

I'm happy to report that I have just bought this patent for $16.715 million USD and the deal is done and sewn up. If you SOHC guys want cheap gas you can PM me after the 12Th of June when the deal will be done. I'll be discounting water to you guys at a competitive rate of 12.5% and if you don't like it that's not my problem.

While I don't know specifically what this fuel is, you can buy a BMW car that runs on Hydrogen gas now, so there's no real "magic" involved.

I'll be interested to see whether or not this progresses though, I think about Aussie Ralph Sarich who developed his "Orbital Engine" which was going to revolutionize the world of the internal combustion engine due to it's potential to develop much more power than conventional engines, while using much less fuel.

Ralph came from poor migrant stock, his engine never fired a shot in anger, but after a visit to Ford in the US, he's now worth 800 million bucks. Go figure.................

That reminds me of a time some 10 years ago I saw a live demo of a water-powered welder. My buddy was paying attention but I knew nothing of welding and was more interested in the BMW Isetta the guy had in his barn.

Three thoughts:

So that is what Hyde was talking about on the '70s Show....

The fossil fuel lobby/companies are only interested in their fuel-source-du-jour and until the supply of fossil fuels actually starts to run out they won't develope alternatives. Can you actually imagine that there will be fossil fuels leftover by time the developed (and developing) countries realise their folly?

The female anchor echoed my thoughts. Food prices are up because they're using it for fuel. Water scarcity is already becoming a problem in the western states. Maybe we'll get back to where we were a few years ago - remember when bottled water cost more than gas? $:-\$

There's nothing ground-breaking or even remotely new about separating water into Hydrogen and Oxygen through electrolysis. Sure, you can use the gases you get as a fuel, but you would have gotten farther using the electricity.

The problem with anything that uses Hydrogen as a fuel, whether it be in an electric fuel cell or internal combustion engine, is that currently the cheapest, most efficient way to produce hydrogen is from fossil fuel.

What is sooo so so sad is, the US government gives out HUGE tax brakes to the Oil Big Dlcks to research and develop new sources of energy....
And this guy,(and others) pull something like this off.
In 97 I saw a presentation at the UW School of Engineering, this guy, a retired electrical engineer who lived in the boonies in Oregon had completely stepped off the grid. He was all solar and he had converted his truck and generator to run on Hydrogen Gas that he pulled out of good old H2O.

If the government subsidized Hydrogen fuel like they have Fossil, it would not be that expensive. That is part of the lie that the US Gov want you to buy into.
You go to Germany and all you hear about is Hydrogen fuel. They have Huge Hydrogen Generators that are up and working serving community.
You don't hear about it in the US News, Why, most of us are a bunch of cattle grazing in a field, who feeds us?
The US Gov and all they have on the menu is Shlit.

most are just adding the "brown's gas" or HHO into their intake manifolds and supposedly see fuel savings in the area of 20-40%.

I think my van may be getting one sometime soon.

The guy's burning Hydrogen. That's it. What's so creative, innovative, or amazing about that?

What would be ground-breaking is if he had come up with a process to split the water molecules to get the hydrogen that netted more energy than it used, but if he had, he'd be focusing on that and not how he can miraculously burn hydrogen.

How about this rumor:
When the dams were built in Hudson Bay, Quebec, there were pipeline proposals to send hydrogen to the USA. The dams were going to produce so much more power than could be sold.....

Would it have worked? AND if it did, would we be seeing lower commuting prices?

whatever happened to water injection
i can remember a place in Sydney 20 years ago that used to tap into the intake manifold for water injection
it was supposed to give more power, better economy, cleaner burning, pay your bills, generate enough elctricity for a small city etc

Water injection is not new in 60 I was working on Wright 3350-32w engines that used water injection to add more power for take off and emerg power, what it did was cool the cylinders so that they could develop more power with out pre ignition, that being the limiting factor in the engine, now having said that the water injection fluid also contained methanol and lubricants.
