I took the 77' around the block today ;D.
After two weeks of work.
Replaced chain and sprockets, tune up, bulbs, and a good cleaning.
Then had to make a "Stop" for the center stand since the original exhaust is gone. (I wondered what the sound was??)
I still have to properly route the vent hoses, and still have the side grommets soaking in Brake fluid.

And then found another myriad of problems.

- Clutch slips at higher revs, adjusted to the max. Springs??
- Master cylinder leaks by the lever. Need to get a rebuild kit
- Right Blinker wont blink, however right front signal is lit when on. Left will. Not sure why yet.  ???
 - #1 Still does not sound right. I need to check the plug wire and possibly re-clean carbs.

Anyway if any one can add any input to the above dilemmas, I sure would be appreciative.

Aaaaah   I love first rides.

For the blinker, check out the ground on the rear that isn't working...

Maybe.  Check to see that the spring seats have not been accidently left out at some point.

Rear right bulb is burned out or not connected, front right bulb puts insufficient draw on system to trigger blinker?

Congrats on the first ride.  I just got to take my rebuild out for the first time this week also and damn it was a good feeling.

I recently bought a '77 and I paid 5 bucks more than you and now I'm all deflated :) ($325).  You had to go and wreck my day/project/life, didn't ya?

Congratulations!  The good deals are out there!  I have lots and lots of plans for mine but the darn thing is pretty close to being in "solid running condition".  What I mean by that is you wouldn't mind taking it to work (reliability, looks decent).  Talk to me about 700 dollars from now :)

I replaced all the bulbs, Im not getting juice to that side at all.

Sorry GammaFlat.  ;)
I think at this point, including the bike, I have about $750 into it. If I can get the clutch working for just the springs and the gasket, I be happy.
Sound like yours was in a little better shape though.

OK, so you have a front right running light, but no right-side turn signals at all.  Left side works all ok.  I'd check for a loose bullet connector in the headlight shell, downstream of the handlebar switch (blue wires with white stripe, I believe).  Also verify switch function with a meter while you're in there.  There's some great wiring diagrams here.

cheers
