Topic: Prep work before chroming

Hello.  I am wondering what is the best procedure to use when preparing parts for chroming?  I would like to have a few parts such as the valve, clutch, and alternator cover chromed.  Some of these have some road rash that would need to be removed.  Is sanding recommended starting off with heavy grit and working up to finer grit?

Here are some pictures of the carbs that I just rebuilt.  These are for my 82 CB750K.  I know it's not an SOHC but this place is full of friendly people who are extremely knowledgeable.  I tried posting on the DOHC forum about a year ago and was virtually stoned to death because my machine is not the 'F' model.  I have been quite busy since then and have not had a chance to log on much.  It appears that there have been changes to this forum as well.

Well.....

Deep scratches and rash should be sanded out.....

Unless your chrome guy is gonna do it......

Remember thier gonna use copper/nickle under the chrome...so that covers some sins.
