My '76 CB400F lived in a neighbor's garage for I don't know how long. It was his son's ex-wife's ride, evidently. I bought it in 2006, and it is undergoing conservation right now. I applied blue paint to the tank and side covers a number of years ago (the primer gray/black speckled look just had to go), but did little else at that time. Now that I'm retired, I can spend some time on the bike. So far, I've been concentrating on the rolling chassis: new wheel and head set bearings, drive chain, fork seals, calipers+pads+master cylinder. Also installed new ignition coils, as the ones that were installed on the bike were not correct and the wiring was a mess. Am just about done with cosmetic cleanup and will tackle carburetors next. Fortunately the original headers and muffler are in decent shape. I had another neighbor build the side cover badges with his CNC mill from a design I did in AutoCAD. Haven't had this much fun since I dismantled my CL77 in my apartment during my college years.
