I've heard that too Ray. I believe it was the British and/or the European market that had the K2 till '76.

Anybody else shed some light on this?

If that is the green....makes sense.....a K4 for sure.... and once I zoomed in I could see the petcock on the right side....as far as the K2 being available in uk for four years beyond 72....I would bet that they were produced in 72 and slowly released to that market....I don't think that HMC would have been producing them simultaneously with the k3-k6...not their style....tell you what I will do...I'll send an email to Bob Hanson and Bob Jameson to see if they have any info on that. Even though they were mainly the us market....they had an inside track with Honda.

Well I see that it addresses it , but also shows that the frame #'s are still in line with the 72 year production and that they were putting later model engines in the older frames....so it follows what I was saying... large production of frames in 72 and slowly releasing them into the European market..with engines produced in later years put into the older frames....although there is very little difference between the k2 and the k6 other than color schemes and loss of performance(in US due to the EPA) and increase of reliability and small changes in instruments and handlebar switches etc...the frames were pretty much the same. I could not see HMC running two production lines of the same model (cb750) throughout those years.

Papers on mine call it a '73, but the vin is 208xxxx which, I would think, would make a build date of maybe March or April '72 (definitely in the first half of the production run), but my tag is gone... anyone got one close that could verify?

One of the weird things that happened back in the early 70's was that some states would title bikes in the year that they were sold. A K3 that was built in 9/72 and sold in 12/72 might get titled as a 72 and not a 73....I had a list of the states that did that somewhere on my home computer....I will have to try to find that pdf file. Certain states did it in different years. Kinda of why I stick with vin's and tag build dates.

Yes, my '74 K2 (European Directs Sales model) has a '72 frame number (20xxxxx) and an engine number that matches the k4 (E23xxxxx). But also the front fork and front fender are equal to the k4. The European '74 k2 basically has the same technical features as the k4, except for the wire harness and handlebar switches (incl. acoustic signal). All the other differences are merely optical.

The changes on the European K2 in 74 has been supplied from about half 74. I own a 74 K2 ED with the same specs as the earlier K2s, like front fork and fender. Only the gauges are a bit different with cable connections in the middle, without the bigger hole for the hectometer wheel. Later on, the odo cut out changed, but the way it has been mounted (with the chrome rings) remained. That's also a difference between the US and ED K2/K3/K4. And not to forget the color of the face plates.

I just bought a 1975 750F, paid 100 bucks, but, looks like the previous guy was having electrical problems, tried to upgrade controls, something, I don't know. I'll post a pic later, for y'all to tell me if I got ripped or not. My plans are to do a very, very low budget bobber. Oh, did I mention low budget...........

I paid $100 for a spare motor...hell, my Dyna ignition conversion cost me $140, I'da jumped on a $100 750 in a heartbeat. No way you coulda got ripped off. Not only that, but stories like that keeps eveyone elses dreams alive..

I also bagged a 1974 350F1 for 200 bucks all original, 'cept mufflers rusted completely off. Has 2800 miles, been sitting since 1998. Runs, not well, but runs. Work in process.

Here are the two bikes I got. plans are to leave the 350 original. It only has 2800 miles on it. All it needs is exhaust, so if anyone has one or know where I can get one (prefer 4-2 or original) let me know.

The 750 on the other hand, I want to rat/bob it, as cheaply as possible. I don't have access to to any fancy tools, just the trusty ole garage, or in this case the storage shed out back.

Hey all...

About to pick up a 78 Cb750K. Its already mine but the awesome guy Im getting it from (in trade for a cb350g chopper project and a BUNCH of other parts) is fixing it up a bit before the swap.

Im in Beaver PA (about 45min north of Pittsburgh).

Looking forward to getting the 750 home. Ive had plenty of bikes, but all small Honda twins. (And one 72 CB500 four that I traded for another bike...)

She will get a custom seat, some tracker bars, a littl fresh paint and cleaned up. I have Yoshimura 4-1 that a friend donated on the way as well which will probobly get mated to a vintage MAC can as Im too damn poor for a proper Yoshimura one.

The bike will be my workhorse for now as I finish my 1968 Honda CL175 cafe racer, and my 71 Yamaha R5 racer.

Eventually Id like to do something fancy with it. Maybe a chopper, maybe a racer, who knows?

Look forward to seeing any of ya on the road!

Here's my K3. Bought it from a guy in Omaha, NE who bought it from a guy from Wisconson. The Omaha owner purchased it in October of 2009 and had never rode it or got the title in his name. I posted a ad on CL looking to buy a CB500 thru 750. This guy gets ahold of me and says he is building a new house and he needs to sell this bike he has never rode. I ask him if it was all stock. He say's is all stock right down to the orignal Sunflake Orange paint!

Bonus!! I ahve put about 500 miles on it since early June. It ran OK, but was dripping some fuel out of carb #3, so the carb rack is off for some new jets and needle's and cleaning. Should have it back on the road again soon. Great site here
