Hi Guys,
Just joined the forum about 2 weeks ago.
Which as it happens is when I started restoring my 1976 CB750 K6.
It's been sitting in my garages for the last 26 years.  Long story.
I am the original owner since I bought it in 1976 and helped take it out of the shipping box.
Will post some pictures when she's ready to get back on the road.
Have read many of the posts on various topics here and am looking forward to the day.........

Hello all.

Been lurking on the site for a few weeks now and figured it was time to join. Got this 1976 750k a while back from a buddy of mine. My son wants a bike so I figured make a father/son project and have some fun while we're at it.

Here she is in all her glory... complete with custom eagle and flame paint job and chrome sissy bar! A few hours later we had her all stripped down and ready for the next step.

Looking forward to a speedy build so we can enjoy it soon.

Thanks. The exhaust is in really great shape, but my son wants something different/louder. I will probably hang onto them... I'm thinking about picking up another bike for a full restoration. We'll see.

K6, The Best Year!
Curious... What, in your opinion, makes the '76 / K6 the best year? [I should say I've got a vested interest in your answer--my Dad just offered to give me his CB750, and I'm pretty sure it's a '76 / K6.]

Because I own one...

Had all the improvements before change to longer wheelbase K7,

also had a few "negative improvement" such as lower HP due to leaner carburetor and cam characteristics.

After that, I'd better introduce myself... And my bike:

My dad just gave me his 1976 CB750K (date of mfg: 12/75). He's owned it for the last 20 years, the last 6 of which have been in the corner of his garage... It's got 25,000 miles and is fairly clean. I'd like to keep it that way--clean, I mean; I fully intend to rack up the miles! I'd like to make a 'sport tourer' out of it (but without the hard case and fairing; see link in signature)--updated suspension front and rear, and some engine tune up. I'll tear it down / open it up this winter and see what I find. Hopefully nothing major, and I can have it back on the road next spring. I'm up in Canada, so spring comes a bit later than for many of you--gives me a bit more time to get it done. ;-)

Thanks for the great site. I've learned a lot here already!

Hey all, I'm Jeff from SEPA, I just joined the site about two weeks ago and figured I would introduce myself and my bikes. First is my rider, a 1975  cb750 k5 that I picked up in August after selling my previous project. It's got the side covers, just weren't on for this pic. I'd love to take this back to stock at some point with the original exhaust, bars, and such.

And then my project, which will not be returning to stock, a 1976 cb750 k6. First pic is how I bought her, second is where I got her to before its current state of being torn down to clean and powder coat stuff.

Hey all.
New owner here...
I've taken the '76 CB750K off the hands of another member: heyjones who had a thread on his build in 2010/11 http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=64103.0

Here to document and bounce ideas off anyone who's interested.

The bike just had it's top end resealed as it was spewing oil and quite a mess.

I've already done a few fixes and mods that I can go over as soon as I get another thread going.

Looking forward to many hours a hermit in my garage!

1978 CB750K picked up last week. Never bothered to look at mileage but the few previous owners didn't show it much love. Couple of valve stems on the intake side are eaten up by rocker arms due to not having the tappet screw and nut in properly. I've cut the frame already to pull the valve cover as they didn't use a gasket and just put RTV on the stupid thing :(

Plans for the bike is to replace the tank with a earlier model as well as the seat. Change out the front forks to CB550 forks to lower the front a bit and then swap to 18" wheels.

Figured up here in Canada was a good little toy to tinker with through the winter and able to ride when its warmer.

Welcome firebane, cool looking bike.

Exactly like the start of my first 750. Like with the 550 forks to lower. And 550 swing arm, longer and lowers the bike some. However, still in the garage leaning against the wall.

Lazy, just plain azz lazy.

Firebane......I would be concerned with an engine that had silicone for a valve cover gasket. It doesn't take much to plug up an oil passage in the head and starve your top end of oil. Probably be a good idea to drop the oil pan for a look see.

Oh yeah I'm going to be doing that too. This thing will be getting a full oil change before I start it again.

I'm looking for the five-bolt dual-disc wire-spoke front hub. Just like in the above post by Calilao in the Philippines. This hub would be a critical improvement for my DOHC "CB900K0 Bol Bomber" project, so that I can keep the CB1100R vented 296mm rotors, or possibly even the CB1100RB dished one-piece 296mm rotors. I would pay through the NOSE for a hub like this, or trade for some of my Unobtainium parts if you like. 'Cause I'm sure there are ways to work around this problem and make stuff work with the 6-bolt front hubs, but the five-bolt rotors come in ALL available versions. Such as the CB750A five-bolt version of the regular SOHC CB750K front disc, 296mm - or the VF750F/VF1000F version with the Gold Boomerang rims, there was a slotted rotor with five-bolts, also 296mm. Plus GL1200 discs, vented with spiral grooves on the surface and the solid silver center-carrier otherwise similar to the GL1100A, CBX pro-link, CB1100R '82-'83 version of vented discs. Or the CB1100RB '81-only (only 1050 pairs of these rotors, plus spares, ever made! - but now available in replica form from Metalgear-AU!) TONS of different options. Meanwhile the SOHC-4/GL1000 front hubs with the 6-bolt pattern, & visually different but functionally identical '78 CB750K8 front hub - only offer the ONE type of 296mm rotors, being the original early-type CB750K0 single front disc. Fitted dual-disc on the CR750 only. And then several versions of 276mm such as GL1000, CB550 etc. Well, for the 276mm size the five-bolt hub offers several different forms. Plus 240mm discs from GL500 & certain CX500's. Plenty of options there.

So yeah - take a look at the above post by Cabilao and see what I mean:

CB750 P7,imported from Saudi Arabia to the Philippines, still under Restauration. Hope the Piston Rings and New Carb Boots arrive in the next days and i can finish it. Cross Country trip is already planned in August.
