want to get honda cb350 running better
« on: April 25, 2008, 12:23:29 PM »

I need help.  I need two things:

1.  a complete carb rebuild kit (everything and I mean everything excluding the floats.
2.  an electronic ignition and coils

It is for  a 71 cb350 twin.  the carbs need to be rebuilt and I am sick of

working with points.  Any help finding a supplier for these parts and this bike would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

May I make a couple suggestions?

#1 I see mikuni VM32's on ebay quite often. Good upgrade, and often enough don't need a rebuild.
#2 From what I gather, dynas dont last long in cb350's due to certain venting issues. You can use hondamans electronic ignition with the points.
Since they aren't carrying current, they don't really wear out of timing. I'll be using his ignition on my 350 racebike.

Barring finding VM32's, what carbs do you have, exactly?
No.

I dont know the actual no. on the carbs but they are kehnins.

I did see vm32's  but are they a direct bolt on?  do you have anymore info on them?

I tried to get on hondamans site from faqs "where to buy parts section"  and could not get on.  I will try later

thanks for the info though

Pretty much a direct bolt on. Need a different throttle cable if your current carbs are CV, though.
Are your carbs CV or regular?

Just PM hondaman. He'll tell you how much to send, and where, and you'll get the ignition to you in a couple of days.
You'll need to buy new points, probably, but wont have to buy new ones or adjust them for a LONG time.
No.

Also (depending on your carbs) Z1 has the rebuild kits. So does Honda, I think. They do for the 350f, anyway.

floats are available on ebay. Diaphrams are really, really expensive (and would be needed if you want a "Full rebuild").

Mark - hondaman's ignition recieves praises across the board. It also carries a much LOWER price tag than an electronic ign. for the twins ($350)

Coils can be had from z1 I believe. give them a call.

I can vouch for Hondaman's ignition system, at least for the 350f. The good thing about it is that should it ever fail (unlikely) you can just plug the original connections back together and use the points as before and thus it'll get you home.

Good luck with it.

thanks for the info guys.  I actually pulled the bike out of the garage this weekend.  I just started to pull the tank and then, whamoo!  A honey do list.  It was not a bad one but time consuming. so maybe next weekend  I can get stuff done next weekend.  I just emailed hondaman.

thanks for the info guys if you have anything else that would help I would appreciate it.
