Springtime suprises!~ oil everywhere!

So, I parked my 1978 CB750F (18.5K) for the winter in october. Went through the necessary prep. Changed oil, drained carbs, filled tank + sea foam. The bike was running pretty good last summer. About 3k on it over the warm months. Was leaking a hair of oil above the cylinders... figured it needed new rings maybe? Never really got around to it. So, it's finally a livable state in MN (for the time being) and I've got the bike out twice now. 30 miles. Did the whole change oil and such before I got it out. I noticed today that I'm dripping oil like crazy out of the left side top cylinder. Wondering what the hell happened. I'm wondering if the gasket might have just had it's last winter or if something else could have gone wrong. Anyone have any ideas?

your new oil has managed to flush out a deposit that had formed at your existing leak
I've just flushed the system on a previously oil tight mtor and oil now flows freely from a rocker cover

Definitely a thought I had. Not much of a quick fix on this one I'd suspect. Well, other than pulling my oil pan to check my pump!!! sheesh.

no reason to check your pump - if oil is coming out it is definitely getting oil there....

+1 pump is definetly working, I don't like to winterize my scoot i like to battery tender and start it once a month and let it run a little. sucks it does sound like a gasket might have finally let go....

well, thats good to know. Just a damn shame. I don't think i could ride her with the leak for much longer. It's pretty freakin' oily.
