Second coat with Por 15
« on: April 25, 2008, 04:26:24 AM »
Someone mentioned doing a second coat with the por 15 product.
A couple of people I know were very happy with there results with one coat.
What do you guys think?
Thanks

I did one coat and it worked on mine. Extra coat for extra protection?

It's like a second condom...  one's 99% effective but some people want that extra 1% for peace of mind.

Trouble is, once exposed to the air, the surplus POR 15 must be discarded (according to the instructions) so you'd have to use a fresh can, which could get expensive. One coat should do fine. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Someone recomended it on my other post
Quote
I would definitely do a double coat... I noticed a huge difference between one coat and two.  With one coat, there are parts of the liner that are so thin that it's almost transparent.  With two, it really looks robust.

I am only going to do one coat and see how it works,I'm sure It will be just fine.

That was for Kreem, but it's an entirely different coating. One coating of POR15 will be fine, unless you've got big holes, in which case they should have been patched first. Cheers, Terry.

One coat worked for me. That stuff is so thick that two coats might unearth imperfections.

It depends on which POR 15 your using and where. The original POR 15 is UV light sensitive and if exposed it sunlight it will fade or yellow. So your will need to add a another coat of something like black cote POR 15. If it's where sunlight won't get to it then one coat of just the normal POR 15 will work.
