Steering Stem
« on: August 19, 2005, 06:59:30 AM »

The previous owner of my 76 superport had a fall or the bike was hit and consequently, the steering stop on the steering stem is broken off on one side.  I have since fixed the dented tank and now wish to prevent a similiar incident.
I checked the part number for the steering stem  53200-392-000ZA.  I am wondering if these were common on the SOHC frames or if I can source one from another frame?
Any thoughts ?

I think that part number is only for the F bikes and you'll have to source one from another F bike.  On the part number you list you'll notice the part code is 392 whereas on the K bikes it's 300 or 341.  But, the K7/8 may be different; worth looking into.

i thought that I might be able to replace easily but you are probably right.  i may look into welding the broken stem.
