Well I have to get off my bike everytime, my T-stand is in my pocket and I cant put it in place while on my bike.. also I have to get off anyway to pay.

When I started the thread, I did not find it so odd that the rider was fuelling while on the bike, but seemed to have at least one foot up.. but that was not what struck me as much as letting a passenger sit on it while it was on the sidestand.

First off, it would be hard on the stand, but also easy to loose balance if they moved wrong or the forks moved (maybe it had a damper)

You gotta admit though riders these days are not like riders in the 70,s & 80,s... ;)

Well first off,
They take tea cosys from girls playsets & put them on their mastercylinder :o

They all pack cellphones and creditcards & crackberrys.

They overprotect top half of their body , and forget the rest !(gotta admit tho that did start in the 80,s!)

A far higher percentage take riding courses..

They spend way more money on bike related clothing..much of it designer.

They think owning a trailer is a necessary part of rider, worse yet, some have pickups as well.

They think nothing of trailering or hauling their bike to an event, then unloading them and riding there.

They think its a fashion show, not just about riding..

Stuff like that.........................

Not to hijack the thread, but I trailer.  When I go to an event, I am camping.  I can't sleep in a van I left at home.  When I started riding back in the 70s, I didn't trailer, but I didn't go to events either.

But if you own a Harley, a trailer IS necessary.

I dont rememember many people in the 70,s hauling Harleys on trailers..

My roomate never had one.. and would go on month long rides..

Try a tent, not a van, its easier to fit on your bike ;D

i thought harleys came with trailers. thats why theyre so expensive right?  its raining today so i feel i can weigh in on this topic that is so clearly a result of almost spring boredom.

there are two types of fueling i do.  in a hurry and not in a hurry.

if i am in a hurry i will pull up run the debit card through the reader, fill er up without dismounting, and be off as soon as that girl in the skirt or tight pants gets back in her car.

not in a hurry i will pull up run the debit card through the reader, fill er up without dismounting, start it back up to park it over by the girl in the skirt or tight pants, get a coffee.  drink it.  smoke a cigarette (far far away from the petrol) and wait for another girl in a skirt or tight pants to be nearby so's i can kick start it and be on my way.

i think iwould have done the same thing in the 70s except the chicks would be hairier.

The bike is a 350F, and at two-hundred-mumble pounds, the bike is already a bit strained.  And at 51, the van is as "roughing it" as it gets nowadays.

Hey I was 51 last year, first real road ride in over 15 yrs..  We jammed out & motelled it in Bonneville .

But on the way there I sorta slept on a picnic table for a few hrs, it got down to about 50....on the way back we were on the road one night, it got down to 50 or high 40,s.. again I slept outside, on the huge river gravel.. (wished my air mattress held air >:()...

That pussy 1080 set up his tent & wore freaking long johns & had a non-leaking air mattress.. jeez.. how much more cushy can it get??

I also slept under a porch of a member of another forums house, but that dont count, it was under a roof!

But Heyyy, I never felt so freaking alive in  years and years!!.. cant wait to do it again.

I'd put my 1200S up against the rest of 'em  ;D That uncomfortable little beast didn't miss a beat in 110*+ heat down to Georgia from Milwaukee, or all the way back up in storms that had freeway offramps closed.
The only time that bike's seen a trailer is passing them on the interstate. Hell, even when I wadded it up under a viaduct, I at least brought it to work the next day in a pickup  ;)
Though that last mile home after that viaduct was interesting...

Soooo, If I'm getting this right - H-D's on trailers are pansies, but excuse of "it's raining, I'm not riding" is not?  ;)
If you are afraid of few drops, don't scuff the trailer crowd. Gotcha....  ;D

The only time my bikes are loaded up in a truck or on a trailer is because they are unable to move under their own power.

i was more referring to the fact that if it were beautiful out it would be embarrassing to be typing instead of riding.  i ride year round regardless of weather and have no car let alone a trailer.  so you gotch nothing.

I often use the three-point stance. Is that like putting the kickstand down?
