My 1080 did 11.4s in the quarter mile drag strip with a mild cam ( Kenny Harman ), Jerry Branch head, MTC pistons, stock KZ1000 carbs and in a heavier than stock frame (Amen Savior).  It did 1.5 second 60 foot times.  The 60 foot times match my stock 1150 Suzuki dragbike.

Here's some of photos what happens when you take the 750 the limits.

Hey, I will still sell anEARLIER BellStar for 50 bux + shipping..

I am really getting curious now as to how quick a Sabre or  Magna would be, when it is only revved to 3/4 of redline!!  ::)   :o   ???   ;D

Funny I did a search of sabre 1/4 mile times and seems they are only doing 11.3 or 11.4 with average riders.. and the 60 ft times were not that good either..

A lot of stock Busas will get a 1.9 ..60 ft time.. so 1080 will get about a 4/10 drop on them off the light.

What someone on here in not taking into account is the higher horsepower bikes have a lot of difficulty off the line on the street, lower horespower bikes can often leave quicker... but of course anyone that streetraced would know this..

You spin, you lose the holeshot..

a lot of bikes nowadays  have enough hosepower to make a holeshot on the street tricky,  they can sre make it up  when they hookup though.. :)

Put a large Shinko on the back. You'll hook up.

I'd say 1.6's with stock busa, regular pavement all day long. Lengthened, dropped mid to high 1.4's. Guys are getting high to mid 1.4's on the track with stock busa's

It all comes down to your setup, but then if you street raced, or raced period, one would know this.

Jay Gleason took a magna to 10.92. Stock magna. Different model but same engine.

No one was disputing that a Magna could not get in the 10,s..
but a lot of riders on an everyday track are doing 11.3s, on the searches I did.

It is pretty common for the average Joe to never get anywhere near those times. There have however been a lot of CB 750 that are built that run in the 11,s and some in the 10,s.

So how quick is a VTR 1000, stock in a mag test.. I have run up against one of them, on the street, racing off a light..

I just saw this and had a look at Carpy's ad, geez he's full of shiit..................... Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Re the pics 1080 put on,

The side view is not shown, you can actually on several fins see the sleeves throught the side of the cylinder, it no longer gets airflow through between the cylinders 1&2, like it did stock. So for the member here that wanted to run the .75 over 1080 pistons (whatever the actual cc is) .. good luck..

It is generally not a high hours deal. Still working on a way to build a couple billet ones with better finning..that would be runnable for everyday.

I found the 1080 bike that member 1080 has, I finally realized I was not able to buy it soon and turned him onto it.. he pounced  ;D,, helped him prep it, I decked the block And o-tinged one of the sleeves.. I have ridden it,up and down the return road at the drags, it could use bigger carbs, it actually has a pretty mild cam, is undercarbed and still does mid 11,s.

It is not a matter of one person getting into the 10,s RC, sold motors that did all the time... and if you couldnt do it, they would.

Well I doubt the average joe is getting 10s consistently on a cb either. It is funny how you claim a cb gets 10s all the time and that you think the average person can do it all day long, even though you only state 2 people and I have really found info on only 1. I find one and somehow it is not credible?

I think this just comes down to you thinking that you are right especially since I am not as old as you so "how could I know anything". Yet all we have is your word that you did all this stuff and saw it all.  At least I can admit that I do not know it all, but you even argue against other who DO know more than you. Well whatever I guess. I will not bother trying to even talk about this with you as I could have video proof documented by any drag org and you would still say it was wrong.

Tel you what, if I can ever get my hands on a magna or sabre, I will let you know. I will ride to your location and you can book the strip time. We can see then what happens. It might be a couple years though as I have to pay off student loans and just got a house. But when it happens, you will know.

till then, good day sir.

From an RC catalog,

re the 1000cc Turnpike Terror,

...If you wish to race this motor, it will yield 10.90s at 150 mph+ in the 1/4 all day long. Tis is not an R.C. race motor and should not be considered if you wish to use your bike as a racer.............................................. This is the combination that we feel is the safest, most reliable, and fastest for street use..

I am pretty sure Russ Collins could considered a bit of an expert (even to folk in the Dakotas ::).). and he had at least 49 National records at that time to prove it... even today a lot of folks on this forum use his stuff..

Note the description above was for a street motor, the racing ones were quicker..

For those of you who have a genuine interest in High Performance sohc hondas, that were not around back in the 70,s..

Look up RC Injectors, then go to the history section... good informative read..

Anyone holding top-speed record for mororcycles at the drags for a 12 year stretch, truly knows what they are doing, and it was done with Sohc Honda Fours.... it is easy to pretend it did not happen..

.......My buddy Bill White (Hillclimber and champion) helped out be Rick Stetson and my close friend Dana Johnson. Rick had the fastest and quickest SOHC in the country at one time. That engine ran positive deck of .250 etc. He was in the 9 teens back in the mid seventies. I've written about it before. Byron was the genius at RC. He is a genius in my mind.

They were there for quite a while. Russ has absolutely no hard feelings with them going on there own. He has never done anything but speak very highly of Byron. Hey....with a name like Byron you better be a genius at something. ;D Byron is one smart fella. He actually got an FJ to be fast and quick. ;)
