Tell him:

1. Get a REAL mechanic that will not try to hose him like the "alledged" mechanic he's referring to

2. Get a life

3. Quit trying to blowing smoke up yer ass cause you know better

4. F@#k you, you're an idiot

5. If it's not butchered up too bad by the mechanic thats trying to hose him, you'll give him $250 for the bike since it's obviously in worse shape than when you sold it to him due to the jerk off so-called mechanic

Someone looking to cause trouble.

You don't owe this person anything.  The less you talk to him, and the less you worry about it the better.

Tell him to shove it up his a$$. If it was a couple of days later, I may, out of the kindness of my heart, be willing unroll the deal. It's been three months. There's no telling what he's f*cked up, and for him to ask you to  "make it better" for him is preposterous. I think his "mechanic" is screwing him with sand, and he feels like a dumbass.  We aren't dealing with brand new bikes here, they're 25+ years old, and its always a mystery as to what's inside 'em. I think that's part of the fun of vintage bikes. You were honest with the guy, so I wouldn't worry about a thing... ;)

People like this are a "special" breed, I'm sure this guy has applied this tactic to other situations with some degree of success.  I fixed a car window for a guy, quoted him $50.00 on the phone and charged him $40.00 after all was said and done, saved the guy around a $100.00 for the service.  The reason the window was screwed up in the first place was because the car was t-boned at the rear of the door and the entire car was twisted.  The arrangement was to get a window back in the window opening with no expectation of it rolling up and down due to the condition of the door.  So the douche rolls the window don and it gets stuck open. It took me all of 15 mins to get the window dislodged and back into it's hole. No charge.. a few days later the #$%* ass shows back up with the same problem. I told him it would be $50.00 if he wanted me to rig it again, the guy starts getting pissy about it, saying #$%* like "I paid you too much, and asking me why I charged him what I did because I had no overhead" just ridiculous #$%*. I reminded him of our original agreement and he left. He showed up at my house two more times, the last time he stopped by I went bat #$%* on the guy running across my yard with a screw driver and pointing it in his face and told him if wanted to get every window in his heap busted out and every tooth in his head loosened up to come by my house again.
I farted and made my son cry.

I dont think it is even possible to spend $1000 on the wiring on these bikes unless you get everything brand new and still then I dont think it would be that much.  I wouldnt give him anything and do like everyone said and tell him to #$%* off!  First get the guys info (name, address, phone #, etc.) in case something does happen to your property and do mention it to the police.  I would also tell him to sign up here and see what the people here have to say about him and his attitude.

So what did you tell the guy?  His answer?

Personally I'd tell him to f off.  3 months.  Come on dude.  Like other buyers said its an old bike and there may/will be issues.  My buddy just bought (last year) a 69 Triumph TR6.  He paid 2500 for it.  It needed lots of work but ran well and started first kick.  He's torn the entire bike down and basically fully restored it.  Now the rings did leak but he knew old bikes need work.  I guess thats the morel of the story.  Old bikes may/will need work.

The cat hasn't called back yet. I did tell him I would speak to the mechanic who also heard the bike run and idle smoothly before, and he could talk to him too.

But I have come to the decision that I'm not even going to call him back. If and when he calls me I'll give him my mechanic's #. I shouldn't even have to waste my time on this BS anymore. It's a done deal as far as I am concerned.

A friend of mine has a saying for morons like this buyer:

What are you prepared to do about it?

Well, the same that you were prepared to do when the bike was mine.
