getting the motor out!*&^%$ honda cb550 k2
« on: April 27, 2008, 07:48:27 AM »
Im ripping out a  motor and cant get it out....?    Yes all bolts cables and electric are disconnected.   I tried tipping the bike over and letting gravity work its magic but the studs from the exhaust hit the frame and hold it back from falling out.   Im about to cut off the studs from the exhaust in my next move...but would hate to ruin a motor....even though this motor is locked..

any suggestions?

THanks ???

Remove the studs.

Turn them out don't cut them

You can double nut them

Or get a stud puller.

You don't have to take out the exhaust studs to remove engine from frame on a 550.  You do have to take off the oil filter.  The carbs have to be off, and left crankcase cover.  Engine removes from the right side of frame.

Yep....the studs do not have to come out.  Removing the oil pan will give more clearance as well.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.
